Is this the best outcome?

westendgirl Wed 12-Apr-23 16:24:11

Seems the best idea.

grannypiper Wed 12-Apr-23 16:24:27

I would prefer he stayed at home but i suppose in this case 1 is better than 2.

Ailidh Wed 12-Apr-23 16:33:21

I noted it has already been criticised on the BBC News app as indicative of the problems between him and his family.

On the contrary, it's his small son's birthday that day, so his wife is staying at home with the children. It seems perfectly reasonable to me. Not a "Harry fan" but don't see any point in creating unnecessary drama.

Ah! - a new opportunity to have a go at H & M.

merlotgran Wed 12-Apr-23 17:08:27

Sounds like it will be a very quick visit.

Fly over, attend the ceremony, scowl, fly home again.

Done job!

Aveline Wed 12-Apr-23 17:10:10

Best possible outcome. Now let's move on.

Forsythia Wed 12-Apr-23 17:10:42

Some say, online, he never went back after his court case appearance ……

loopyloo Wed 12-Apr-23 17:29:03

Aah! So he's hiding at a friend's!

Boz Wed 12-Apr-23 17:33:10

This is a diplomatic solution. He attends to avoid the bad publicity of uncaring son and lets M off what must now be an ordeal for her.

NotTooOld Wed 12-Apr-23 17:34:01

Ooh, the plot thickens!

Anniebach Wed 12-Apr-23 17:36:58

All the family have apologised for their cruelty ?

eazybee Wed 12-Apr-23 17:37:30

I hoped he wouldn't.
Seriously, how is he going to get through the day watching Camilla in what he will consider to be his mother's place?

Smileless2012 Wed 12-Apr-23 17:45:49

Better IMO if he'd stayed away but as he's coming, better to come alone.

BlueBalou Wed 12-Apr-23 17:46:43

I bet there’s a Netflix crew carefully filming every second and hidden microphones for his next bombshell- too good an opportunity to miss 🤬

Sparklefizz Wed 12-Apr-23 17:47:22

Don't shout at me but I did wonder when the date of the Coronation was first announced whether it had been chosen because it is Archie's birthday, therefore giving H&M an excuse not to come.

Just what I was thinking! The people at the palace have been very crafty - and who can blame them? (Well, I'm sure some will!)

Hermother Wed 12-Apr-23 17:56:34

Of course he'll come on his own. Meagain knows that she'd likely face a hostile reception if she pitched up.

NotTooOld Wed 12-Apr-23 18:01:58

I think PH will face a somewhat hostile reception as well. And they'll all be afraid to chat with him in case he's got a hidden recording device. Quite brave of him to come at all when you think about it. Shame he doesn't have a supportive spouse to stand alongside him. I don't agree with what they've done but I do think it is such a shame his life has turned out like this.

OurKid1 Wed 12-Apr-23 18:07:07

Probably the best thing to do.

Grany Wed 12-Apr-23 18:52:51

Republic
@RepublicStaff

"The monarchy also denies us an independent, effective head of state. That means there is little check on the use of royal powers and no-one to arbitrate during political crises. It's like having a football match with no referee.
Charles and William have the power of royal consent which means any laws that affect their personal interests need their agreement. The impact of this is hundreds of laws that give them special privileges and exemptions.

volver3 Wed 12-Apr-23 18:57:05

The date of this apparently historic occasion has been chosen to coincide with a wee boy's birthday and they better watch out because Harry might be wearing a recording device.

Too many people watching too many spy movies, honestly.

mumofmadboys Wed 12-Apr-23 19:02:21

It doesn't seem a good idea to have the Coronation on Archie's birthday.

Nanawind Wed 12-Apr-23 19:02:54

I thought Charles was being officially crowned on the Monday or have I got that wrong.
They both could have come over late Saturday evening or on the Sunday.

Jaberwok Wed 12-Apr-23 19:09:09

Saturday is Coronation day and that's the day he and Camilla will be crowned. Monday is a Bank Holiday for various activities. I don't think they'll be going to the abbey twice?!
