eazybee

One of the dangerous paparazzi in pursuit of the four SUVs and the limousine was on a bicycle confused

Makes sense, eazybee

They could probably weave in and out of the traffic more quickly.

I really, really have never understood all this papp hype. In the first place, you cannot, absolutely cannot, be chased unless you are the first to run! FACT, secondly, what is so painfully, life threatening about having your photo taken??? If they just stood still and glared at the photographers, who do you think would be the first to walk away? Nothing to see here folks, just move on????

hallgreenmiss Fri 19-May-23 20:47:32

Have a read of this, I think it says a lot about their entitled attitude;

Tittle tattle. Reminds me of an old lady in our village peeping through net curtains…..then rushing to the post office to get her pension but telling all and sundry what she saw,or thought she saw. Dear me!

Such nasty know alls on here

are you casting yourself as a know all as you are on here too!

It's called standing up to bullies. And to be clear, it isn't the press I'm referring to here.

Love 'em or loath 'em, having the press hounding them like this, in the same way they did Britney Spears many years ago, is disgusting. For safety reasons. But then, it isn't called the gutter press for no reason.

hallgreenmiss Fri 19-May-23 20:00:10

But, of course, that doesn't give the press the right to act in an intrusive or dangerous manner 👍 I agree, it is the press who are disgusting

No, Harry and Meghan would have nothing were it not for the 'disgusting' press.

Saggi Fri 19-May-23 19:44:25

Luckily the press didn’t have to ‘drop the dead donkey’ story …..as this was the ‘dead donkey story’

🥱

Sorry, that was referring to those who assume superiority, for some reason

volver3 Fri 19-May-23 19:40:19

You don't know how this works then? Surprised at that Anniebach, you seem to know everything else about the dynamic duo.

FannyCornforth Fri 19-May-23 19:39:11

🥱

Anniebach Fri 19-May-23 19:37:30

lemsip who paid the paps?

volver3 Fri 19-May-23 19:36:49

I would like to say that there does seem to be a quite high number of posters who think that the blame isn't with H&M, and who aren't being cowed into silence, while we have the usual suspects sounding off and making bizarre comments.

Is the novelty wearing off, Grans? Are you going to have to find another person to demonise?

^Oh dear, have a rattled a few cages? I suppose that's the problem with having a lofty perch...😉^

Coming unstuck and falling off said perch is the problem but, then again, you know that feeling grin

What's that supposed to mean?

Princess Mako of Japan gave up her royal status when she married a commoner and went to live in the USA. As far as I know she and her husband do not seek publicity and are not hounded by the paparazzi. They just get on with their lives quietly, still wealthy and privileged but not in the spotlight. If H&M wanted to lead quiet lives presumably they could do the same.

The former Japanese Ptincess may not be quite as famous as Ptince Harry, but she was always in the spotlight in Japan. The point is that former royals can live in the USA without harassment if they avoid, rather than seek out, publicity.

Jaxjacky Fri 19-May-23 19:27:30

I just think it’s a bit sad it was headline UK news and there are 14 pages on here.

lemsip Fri 19-May-23 19:06:42

the 'paps' were paid to follow the, how about that. anything for publicity! everything not as it seems.

surely even the most rabid posters on here must understand that he would have been scared and possibly having flashbacks
Not sure I like the suggestion that any members might be suffering from rabies although one or two did seem to be foaming at the mouth on their high horse.

Anniebach Fri 19-May-23 18:55:52

Again ,if nothing was said by them who told their official spokesperson?

The paps should not have been chasing them in the first place - they happily posed for plenty of photographs at the actual event. They left in an SUV with a security escort, as I understand it, and were pursued by a number of paparazzi, they drove around to try and shake them off but ended up having to take refuge in a police station. They were then put in a taxi in the hope of eluding the paps who were waiting outside, the taxi driver said they seemed scared and nervous. The "chase" did not last two hours, the entire incident including the police station lasted two hours - they left the event around 10pm and finally got to their friends' house after midnight. Nobody said it was a "high speed" chase - the media appear to have created that all by themselves. Given what happened to Harry's mother when being pursued by paparazzi - surely even the most rabid posters on here must understand that he would have been scared and possibly having flashbacks.

I am no particular fan of the Sussexes but something clearly happened here, as confirmed by the NY police, early reports sounded a little hysterical but nothing was actually said by Harry and Meghan personally so could we put the knives away please?

Thanks for this

If in their (unenviable) position I think I'd have gone out of the venue via a side/back door, unobtrusively if I'd wanted to be low-profile. I read that they arrived by a side/back door.

And then, chase or no chase, I would have worn a seat belt.

I am, like some on this thread, just surprised.
