Breaking: H & M in Car Chase

It smacks of desperation to me. So I’m a nasty old cynic but it defies belief.

The taxi driver who they used (why?) said there was no chase, as far as he was concerned.
They asked him to drive around the city for a while. One of the reasons put forward was so they could visit a friend without the photographers snapping them.

It's almost incredible to think that the 'chase' took place for all of two hours - and in New York. As others have said, the traffic hardly moves in some areas. I wonder why their driver didn't call ahead to the nearest Police Station and simply drive there?

How horrible for Harry. I can't imagine how I'd feel, knowing my mum died that way, and the British media scum continuing to hound them like that.

Glorianny In that clip they don't appear to be 'escorted by 2 police cars' because the cars go off to the right whereas the taxi carries on.

The chase was before the taxi driver picked them up. Reports describe that cars following them were being driven recklessly. There is film on this site of the taxi and photographers trying to get a shot.They have 2 police cars escorting them. It seems that the truth is somewhat different….
NYPD Chief says no chase, H&M requested to go by a circuitous rote to where they were staying, no chase ever happened (taxi driver also confirmed this). They had a NYPD escort at all times.
NY CCTV Department deny they have any evidence of a chase on CCTV.
There are photos on Twitter of Meghan happily smiling, as is Doria, Harry photographing the person taking their photo, in the back of a taxi, no seatbelts and the three of them look relaxed and unperturbed.

Hmmm, my initial thoughts: it could only be British paparazzi, because American public really doesn't care that much about them. And a two-hour chase? Where on earth were they going, and why didn't the driver just ignore the pp?

Also, if you are a celeb and attending a banquet, hire a limo with dark windows, don't call a taxi. This just seems odd to me.

I don't think the British paparazzi are that bothered with them any more.

She had just been given an award as Woman of Vision, I think, perhaps it was because of that?

I can't remember a set of streets where a 2 hour chase could occur - quite curious news.

Yes, I am definitely very cynical where these two are concerned and, if this really is some sort of sick trick emulating what happened to Diana then he’s more unwell than I’d originally thought.

My only observation would be that if this truly went on for 2 hours as suggested by the spokesman, there is something seriously wrong with whatever security arrangements are in place for the Duke and Duchess.

For whatever reason they went in through the side/ back door to the building.
Why didn’t they leave by the same way.

Sorry BlueBelle...If H&M are exaggerating the car journey to try to compare it to the situation in Paris of Diana and Dodi, and high light Harry's need for security, I would call that nasty.

I can’t imagine anybody , paps or others , - can see much through blackout windows - or why don’t they have sort of roller blinds on back seat windows.
Seems obvious to me.

We'll never know why Dodi and Diana did what they did and I don't suppose we'll ever know why H didn't ask the NYPD for help either.
