Why did Harry not seek help from the NYPD?

Why did his mother leave the Ritz Hotel in Paris in the middle of the night when her boyfriend's father owned the Ritz Hotel?

BlueBelle Wed 17-May-23 19:03:12

This thread is nasty I m really surprised at some of the comments on here truly horrible Even if it’s someone you have no time for surely you can walk on by without theses miserable nasty comments
Truly frightening for them all, especially him who has never got over his mothers death
Really vindictive comments

Daisymae They were staying with friends and for security reasons did not want those following them to know where they were staying.

I do not understand why they did not drive to the nearest police station and seek refuge there. Or do NY police not work that way?The two of them are big celebrities and that would be (understandable) celebrity behaviour.

They left the event in a limousine, were followed by paps,
went to a police station to exchange limousine for a taxi,
couldn’t the police escort them in police car to a place of
safety ?

Couldn't they just have driven 8 where they were staying?

Surprising that video clips are not surfacing all over the net, NY being a populated area where you would assume people had phones and some service.......

Two hour car chase in New York. Mmmmmm hmm

Why was no one charged

As reported they were on motorbikes and scooters. They have very good number plate recognition in New York. So unless they were using false plates they’ll be caught.

^One of the reasons they left England was to get away from the Paparazzi^

Were they troubled by paps while in the UK?

I must have missed that bit.

Me too.

So they were followed but no near catastrophe according to the police department. That doesn’t garner headlines though does it? More attention seeking from this couple.

So, constantly decry the media, but get your spokesperson to alert Reuters? It’s up there with ‘ Chip Pan Nearly Goes on Fire in Clydebank’!

That did make me smile!

It’s the first item on BBC news at 6pm.

And in the same week that their lawyer appealed again to the courts for Harry to have paid protection when in this country

Yes rather a coincidence wouldn't you say. Let's hear from police sources, not their mouthpiece. As other GN have told about creeping traffic in that area, find it rather odd a taxi in a two hour car chase.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 17-May-23 17:57:44

I’m not alone then in finding a two hour car chase through NY hard to believe.

Namsnanny Wed 17-May-23 17:50:55

NYPD: No reported collision etc.
New York Mayor: I find it hard to believe there could be a 2 hour car chase through New York.

Call me a sceptic if you like but I find it's a bit of a coincidence that Harry is in the middle of several court cases at the moment. One of which is about security.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 17-May-23 17:48:27

Sounds like a storm in a tea cup. No one was hurt thank goodness.

Nothing to see here🙂 I think, but we will see as the story develops.

Anniebach Wed 17-May-23 17:47:44

Why was no one charged

Maggiemaybe Wed 17-May-23 17:44:49

Ah, and this from the BBC:

In a statement, the New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed an incident took place and said that numerous photographers "made their [Harry and Meghan's] transport challenging."

Anniebach Wed 17-May-23 17:44:10

Statement from NYPD, ‘ no one was hurt, no collisions, no arrests

Maggiemaybe Wed 17-May-23 17:41:38

This is on the BBC news. The police have said there were many traffic violations such as photographing while driving , running red lights and using a phone. Luckily nobody was hurt.

Wasn’t it the original spokesperson who said this? I don’t think the NYPD have issued a statement yet. Unless I’ve missed it?

Hmmm, my initial thoughts: it could only be British paparazzi, because American public really doesn't care that much about them. And a two-hour chase? Where on earth were they going, and why didn't the driver just ignore the pp?

Also, if you are a celeb and attending a banquet, hire a limo with dark windows, don't call a taxi. This just seems odd to me.

They did get into an SUV with an armed policeman.
Then about 12 paps on motorbikes and scooters surrounded them.
Some how they got into a taxi and were taken to the local precinct.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 17-May-23 17:39:20

Paparazzi only want photos. They’re not trying to shoot you other than with a camera. If you’re a ‘celebrity’ it’s going to happen, so you either accept it or stop living in the limelight. The RF have the right idea, give the photographers agreed opportunities and the deal is they then leave you alone. What happens in the US, where H has chosen to live, Lord knows. His choice.

It must have been very frightening for them, especially since Megan is experiencing the vile side of gutter photographers. Harry must have had some deja vue while it was happening. You just don't know how it is going to end and you hope it will end with everyone safe.
