Just now

Actually Glorianny her work with the UN etc isn’t nearly as great as she and you would have us believe. It’s been looked into and it was more to do with raising her profile than any advocacy for human rights.

The drivel speech reminds me of the 'mission statements' we had to compose on weekend courses when I was teaching. I recall one Sunday afternoon when we had really had enough, so when asked to produce one the group simply strung all the current buzz phrases into an unwieldy paragraph. We were commended by the course leader for being extremely relevant.
I think he had had enough too.

She is a stranger to the truth

I’m afraid I think this is true.

*so the RF

Vanillasky Tue 23-May-23 11:41:08

I think the RF probably wanted to keep her quiet. Speaking out isn't something they do.

I think there is a difference between speaking and speaking out. Does the latter not imply publicising your allegations against those who have wronged you? Meghan's list during her time with the RF is quite long, do the RF probably does want her to keep quiet, not necessarily keep her quiet.

What I don’t understand is why she wins awards. Awards for what? Being a Woman of Vision? In what way has she been visionary? Would that be for slagging off the royal family? Or not seeing the value in family relationships, especially for young children? Or for becoming a multi millionaire for slagging off the royal family making a Netflix series about something, I’m not sure what as I didn’t watch it, was it for making a series about herself? I just wish I actually understood what she really got the award for. Maybe I’m lacking in brain power but I just don’t understand it! I do know she got another award for standing up tho racism. That’s a worthy award, except she didn’t. Stand up to racism I mean. She just accused the royal family of racism which is totally unproven. Wouldn’t stand up in a court of law, that’s for sure. I think it’s called hearsay. In other words unproven.

I suggest you do a bit of research into her charity and activism both before and since she married Harry. She has been an ambassador for World Vision, leading discussions about menstruation and other hidden topics in India. She was an advocate for women at the UN. In the UK she was involved in One World Vision for young people and SmartWorks a charity for unemployed women, helping them into work. Archewell still donates to many women's charities. She's taken part in and supported numerous women's events and charities as D of S. Just because it doesn't make the UK press you know nothing about it

Yes, we do know and yes, I've mentioned it before.
I'm not disputing that at all.

However, sometimes Plain English is a better way to bring the message to people than speaking gobbledegook.

She is a stranger to the truth

Glorianny Tue 23-May-23 11:18:24

It isn't just about giving money. It's about advocacy and speaking out. Which have always been features of women's activism and which she has always done.
I think the RF probably wanted to keep her quiet. Speaking out isn't something they do.

Anniebach Tue 23-May-23 11:18:03

She needs to put care into the hurt she has inflicted on those closer to home.

maddyone Tue 23-May-23 11:15:40

Oh I knew she’d suggest that Glorrianny.
They give some, not that much, to their chosen charities.

I’m definitely not burning mine Callistemon. I’m more like to be buying more bras than burning them.

Smileless2012 Tue 23-May-23 11:08:14

“It's just never too late to start. You can be the visionary of your own life.
"You can charter a path in which what you repeat in your daily acts of service, in kindness, in advocacy, in grace and in fairness, that those become the very things that are recognised by the next wave of women, both young and old, who will also choose this moment to join the movement and make our vision for an equitable world reality."

Be very grateful you weren’t set this as a passage for translation in your A level French, German, Italian or Spanish exam!
On second thoughts, translating this into English might be enough of a challenge in itself hmm

😂😂😂

I was wondering if it was me, getting more confused in my dosage and not understanding modern speech.

the next wave of women, both young and old
Join the movement?
Is that Women's Lib? Goals: Equality for women; General human rights for all people

Do we have to burn our bras again?

Vanillasky Tue 23-May-23 10:48:45

I agree that it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Yes I’ve just seen he’s lost the right to a judicial review. I didn’t think he’d win. Obviously the judge wasn’t influenced by recent events in Manhattan.

I don’t wish any harm on H & M and family but, even without the Met officers, I believe they’re safer in the UK.

Would I get an A grade for c'est de la merde Foxygloves?
Someone else can do the other languages.

As for their luggage, I expect they left wherever they were staying. And I did see that that they asked to stay at Diana’s favourite New York hotel, in the most expensive suite. Either for free, or with a discount. However I’ve no idea if that’s true. It comes back to hearsay.
If they wanted to stay there, if that is, I can’t understand why they didn’t just pay for it. It’s not like they can’t afford it. Anyway, we don’t know if it’s true, so probably best not to comment or the thread police might be back.

I honestly don’t know why anyone thinks she says anything of value.

tickingbird it's the "Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome.
Everybody realises, but nobody will be the first to say 🤐
