Martin Lewis - speaking sense in a myriad of lies!

It was a delight to see Martin Lewis on a normally miserable BBC Sunday morning politics show. Sadly it is unlikely he will be invited back soon as he holds politicians to account, speaks sense and sensibly, and best of all: knows what he is talking about across a significant range of topics. It is said he is widely feared by the Tories and certain journalists are trying, in vain, to find some dirt with which to smear him. We need more people like Martin Lewis calling out the truth and helping us all understand why the country is in such a mess!

he's fantastic

Anyone who follows Martin on ITV, Twitter, moneysavingexpert, etc, knows that he's been told many many times that he should run for PM, but he says that he doesn't want to be in politics and would much rather keep on doing what he's doing, ie, helping us all in any way he can.

I've followed him for years, and by using his advice, I've saved several £1000's, and have passed his information onto others I know, who've also saved a fortune.

That £400 we all got over the winter, and the fact that the government didn't increase the price guarantee on utilities in April, is all down to Martin and his team - we've ALL got a lot to thank him for!

He is a truly decent caring man. He is honest and true.
Could he be cloned do you think? The world needs more Martins!

Martin Lewis is an excellent champion of the people. Knows his stuff, great communicator. I’m a big fan.

A good man!

Thanks to Martin Lewis I got my council tax band altered and 8 years over payment refund. I've used his Resolver links, checked ISA rates and taken his advice on which card to use abroad. When I volunteered at the CAB they received a very generous sum of money from him to support their excellent service. I hope he stays out of politics - he is better staying neutral and fighting 'the system' on an independent basis

Rusume Wed 24-May-23 14:45:22

Years ago he showed people how to check their council tax band. I did and discovered that a neighbour, in an identical house, was in a lower band. I appealed and was put down a band! Love Martin Lewis!

He speaks truth to power and the powerful never like that.

Gundy Wed 24-May-23 14:13:29

He sounds like a dream candidate. Who cares if he calls himself a floating voter… maybe we need someone like that to run for office. If he’d be a “uniter” instead of a “fighter” like most politicians, I say “go, baby, GO!

But I do know people like him don’t always turn out to be good leaders though… they’re good at what they’re doing now - being likable.

Martin Lewis co-wrote a booklet about mental health and debt, which is available here:

www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/mental-health-guide/

This is the latest edition, but I've consulted a previous edition in the past and found some bits of it useful.

He funded it himself and has been honest about his own past struggles with mental health issues.

Martin Lewis is excellent - it is because of his show on the 22nd November last year when he had a great chap called Lee Healey speaking about benefits, I finally after 5 months with Lee's help, got the DWP to pay me correctly. As a result of the DWP's incompetence I was refused the Funeral Expenses Payment with which to have a funeral for my daughter.

Because I couldn't, her estranged father (who has whinged for years in virtually every text he ever sent to me and his daughters, that he was in his 40th year of working full time time, mostly as a 40% tax payer (a dig at me for being unable to work) and hadn't even seen her for over 2 years) had to pay for it, and boy did he make me suffer for it .... 'It isn't a wedding/jamboree, we can't afford to do this (his wife owns the leasehold on 180,000 properties, and they have 6 cars between them) I will reclaim it from her estate etc ... my daughter and my other daughter and I actually howled laughing when we went to close her bank account, as it had £16.52 in it!!

So because of Martin, and Lee, I am now being paid correctly (after 5 phone calls to the DWP and them ignoring me, and some were very rude) although I still can't afford heating etc but I do have more than £31.88 for food each week!

It is 6 months today that she died, it is not a good day ....

So empathetic …… and he wants to help others, unlike the majority of self serving dishonest politicians

Juicylucy Wed 24-May-23 12:46:15

Great help to many people in this country. With his straight talking understanding.

biglouis Wed 24-May-23 12:24:33

I too have saved money thanks to his advice. I challenged my council tax banding and won. The LA had to refund me several thousand pounds back tax which I spent on a new fence (high enough so my crazy neighbour could not poke her ugly snoot over it) and patio. I also used a site recommended by him (Resolver) to claim money from a couple of companies which were slow to settle.

RakshaMK Wed 24-May-23 12:10:03

Totally agree 👍

Yearoff Wed 24-May-23 11:41:42

I saw him comment about grumblings about his use of bad language on a programme. (I think he said cr*p) He said he was responsible not the bbc as it was a live programme. I’ve not seen any hate campaigns or the like

Casdon Wed 24-May-23 11:24:35

I really hope he stays out of politics altogether, because whoever is in government the public need people fighting for their rights and bank balances. I’m all for people’s champions like him.

Fflaurie Wed 24-May-23 11:15:55

I wish he would run for Prime Minister, I'd vote for him.

Grantanow Mon 22-May-23 18:19:52

He saved me some money and I always read his newsletter.
