Well, I take my information from reputable doctors who commented both in the media and on twitter.

Had Johnson been very ill he would probably have been put on a ventilator, because at that stage, early in the pandemic, that was what the usual treatment was, though I understand that practice changed over the course of time as medical staff became more skilled at dealing with covid. Ventilation is a very invasive and traumatic process, one which patients don't recover from very quickly, apparently. Johnson wasn't ventilated, just some extra oxygen when needed.

'Nearly died' claims are very much exaggerated...

Johnson came out after a week and then partied at chequers or no 10 depending on which venue suited him at the time.

Ask the children’s author - bear hunt man- can’t remember his name - senior moment - if he thinks that Johnson was at deaths door and he will give you short shrift.

I believe one member of staff said he was given a bed in ICU to give him privacy and because of who he is and they erred on the side of caution, but he didn't have more than minimum intervention. No idea if that's true, but it's the claim.

Incidentally, I spent a night on a high dependency ward once, even though there wasn't much wrong with me, just because there weren't any other beds free.

Not Spaghetti very good question. In fact I was beginning to wonder that myself. At one point I began to feel like his apologist.
I don’t like some of the over the top comments which have no factual basis. I assume many of the comments are politically motivated. I object to being told lies.
I also object to being told that 40 new hospitals were going to be built. My local hospital is going to be rebuilt in part around 2030. Good for my descendants but not the most accurate way to engage with the people.
No gain in calling out government when we employ the same tactics that they do.

nanna8- some people who stuck to the rules might want to see if the allegations are true, even if belated. My daughter, for example, whose wedding was rearranged and utterly changed to adhere to restrictions ( losing thousands of pounds) or a friend, three months in hospital after a stroke with no visitors - yep no one, ill and afraid and completely alone for a quarter of a year.. They might have some views on this. Doesn't mean they aren't interested in " other more important issues ".

Do those who think that this has timed out feel the same about other breaches of the law that happened some time ago? Should Rolf Harris have been let off because his crimes were in the past, for instance? Or the man recently convicted of killing Nikki Allan 30 years ago?

I'm not saying that partying during the lockdowns that Johnson imposed on the rest of us is comparable to child abuse and murder, but that the principle of prosecuting people is not usually confined to a timescale, and it's not easy to find examples of less serious old crimes that are still in the news.

The question I'm asking is at what point on the scale of 'serious to trivial' should we just give up and let people get away with things?

One of the reasons why he was more ill than his colleagues who also had it was his weight. He said he was going to do something to help the nation be healthier. I wonder what came of that promise?

I am convinced he was very, very unwell but surely he had a deputy to assist in such a situation. They should have charged him immediately, not way after the alleged activity. A waste of money,time and effort and distracting from other more important issues.

I’ve no problem believing Johnson was ill with covid. He was shaking hands, ignoring the distance advice.
That aside, he was the most disastrous PM till the crazy tories voted the Truss.
Johnson was lazy, self indulgent, arrogant, selfish and lacking in integrity - everything he does is to please himself, meet his own aims.

Language often misleads. Looking very very unwell is not the same as being very very unwell.

If you had had covid, you would know that Johnson was no more “ill” than everyone else.
