Nadine Dorries was the most utterly loyal Boris Johnson supporter and yer she has no received her due reward- s a peerage in the resignation honours.

Poor Nadine!

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 09-Jun-23 18:02:29

She’s thrown her toys out of the pram - stepping down as an MP immediately. A woman scorned …

Casdon Fri 09-Jun-23 18:08:27

Or is she taking one for the team? She is the news, the rest of the list is slipping under the radar as a result.

Riverwalk Fri 09-Jun-23 18:08:53

I don't think she's been scorned - something is afoot!

I'm sure she's destined for the Lords, in time.

What about Stanley "it was only the once" Johnson?

BlueBelle Fri 09-Jun-23 18:44:55

My heart bleeds nor the horrible wife beating father

I wonder if Mrs Johnson has influenced this slight to a woman who appeared to be in love with her husband?

Deedaa Fri 09-Jun-23 19:05:11

Even the omission of Nads doesn't make up for the Damehood for Priti. If I was Dame Judi or Maggie I'd be handing it back.

That was my first thought too!!

Callistemon21 Fri 09-Jun-23 19:23:03

It's starting to become meaningless.

Can we have an elected Second Chamber, please?

Exactly!

Delila Fri 09-Jun-23 20:56:49

Considering the subsequent news of Johnson’s immediate resignation, I think this is Nadine standing by her man.

GrannyRose15 Fri 09-Jun-23 22:16:14

How would an elected second chamber be any better? We have already lost trust in one elected chamber. Having two which we have no trust in would only make matters worse.

Just thought- is there a breakaway Real Conservative Party in the making? Low taxes etc
And I had hoped for the end of psychodrama…

Grantanow Sat 10-Jun-23 09:41:19

Dorries' tantrum is almost as hilarious as the death of little Nell (with apologies to Oscar Wilde).

DiamondLily Sat 10-Jun-23 09:42:44

The committee blocked it for some reason. But, after Johnson's tantrum throwing statement last night, it's good riddance to both...👏👏👏

Grantanow Tue 13-Jun-23 13:51:35

She's now referring to 'sinister forces'. Her attempt to privatise Channel 4 - a public service broadcaster like the BBC - was outrageous. Good riddance.

MayBee70 Tue 13-Jun-23 13:58:18

She never did any work in parliament anyway: I’ve read that she spent half the time writing her novels. I bet she thought she deserved a Dame’hood for her literary achievements alone.

AGAA4 Tue 13-Jun-23 14:00:15

What a little sycophant she was. Boris could do no wrong.

Oldbat1 Tue 13-Jun-23 14:35:02

She cant sit in both houses at the same time. She failed to follow the rules or rather BJ misinformed her.

Casdon Tue 13-Jun-23 18:05:57

Talking to Piers Morgan on Talk TV today:

Ms Dorries slammed Mr Sunak and James Forsyth – his political aide – as “privileged posh boys” who stopped her being offered a seat in the Lords.

“I’m broken-hearted, not just for me but for everyone who comes from a background like mine,” she said.

Mr Johnson’s own background was not a fair comparison because he attended Eton on a scholarship and has “no money”, she claimed.

This woman is deluded - she has earned her nickname, and it’s scary to think she was ever a minister.

Siope Tue 13-Jun-23 18:52:49

She still hasn’t resigned.

It’s not a matter of banging your ruby clad heels together and chanting ‘I immediately resign’ . There is an official process which she hasn’t yet started.

Wiggling her nose like Samantha in Bewitched and saying she wants to be a Lady is perhaps more her style?
