Yet another MP, ignorant about biology.

I'm so looking forward to the day when my chromosomes will have to be tested to allow me to gain access to places. When I will be measured and have my foot size checked, my hands examined, my style of dress inspected and my hair style and make up looked at before I can be considered as suitable for entry into women's facilities.
To those who won't make it for one reason or another, well sorry but we have to have to have. some standards don't we?

Sorry about your confusion. I’ll simplify it for you.
KB said her chromosomes were XY meaning a male. I’m still unclear why she would mention her chromosomes if she doesn’t know enough about them, but she said it, which caused some confusion.

Who said she was trans on this thread? Or was that in something else you have read?

To clarify, asking a question is different from stating a fact.

Quite a reasonable question after what KB said about XY.

Then it was stated
she now identifies as a woman,

That statement is true, whether the answer to the question was yes or no.
If the answer was yes, it means someone claiming to be male (XY chromosomes) now identifies as a woman.
If the answer is no, then saying she identifies as a woman is true, since she is.

I read the OP then the first comments and just assumed she was telling the truth about it

I have absolutely no mental list of who might be trans or not in politics or anywhere else to have possibly known otherwise

She said she was Male. That confused some people.

Can we not just get back to the original point of the thread? Am I the only person who is completely unimpressed that an MP is speaking in a parliamentary debate without even the most basic idea of what she is speaking about? And there are all of you posters “being kind” and wittering on about the MP being trans when she is a woman, always has been and has two children to prove it. No wonder Joanna Cherry had her head in her hands when KB came out with her XY chromosomes rubbish. And to make it worse KB started a degree in medicine. No wonder she dropped out!

Sharing is a good idea. Of course it has to be the truth and not a falsehood, enabled by one group to suit their own purposes, like males deciding they were entitled to misappropriate the term woman.

I’m sharing that I read that Kirsty Blackman isn’t sure about her own sex and that she believes males can be Adult Human Females, which is a lie.
I’m sharing that I’ve read some think the first was a slip of the tongue. I haven’t read any excuse for the second claim. . . yet.

I’m somewhat perturbed that someone who’s so throughly ignorant was ever thought to be suitable to be an MP.

It’s obvious she’d be incapable of ever holding down a proper job that had tricky stuff - like adding up and spelling - involved.

If one has a DNA swab taken, it shows your gender as the one you were born with. It cannot be changed. How many times must it be said?

Which could cause confusion for the police who are hunting a male rapist who now identifies as a woman.

I read posts on GN where posters refuse to provide evidence, including direct quotes, of what they are saying.
They’re often refused on the grounds that the poster isn’t obliged to provide evidence just because someone asks for it, or there is a back track to a claim that it’s just the poster’s opinion.
The fact is that a person talking to a public gathering didn’t know what she was talking about in reference to chromosomes (in which case why mention them at all).

And so far, no one on GN has claimed that TW (males) are females (AHF). I didn’t see a burst of support for that claim either.

There could be a genetic or a developmental reason for gender dyphoria but that would have to start from the premise that a gender is assigned by sex.

If there is no identified sex, then gender cannot differ from it and there can be no dysphoria.

Exactly! And the only reason it has been addressed was because of the size of the backlash from people who saw the absolute misogyny of it, the dehumanising of women as just being non-men. The definition of gay men remained using the word man, no reference to non-woman Now why would a transwoman who oversaw this literature do that? hmmmm

Science isn't finished

They only just sequenced the entire human genome in 2021 I think it was. Over 3 billion long.

Human beings can differ genetically in almost 2 million genes.

They do not know the function of many of those genes yet. Some do not appear to function at all.

We are far more than XX and XY, we actually have 23 pairs of chromosomes. 22 pairs are identical in men and women. Every chromosome contains hundreds or thousands of genes.

We are vastly complicated and we absolutely know, not perfect. Mistakes happen at different areas of development. There absolutely could be a genetic explanation for gender dysphoria and ruling that out at this stage is literally impossible, especially when we know that science has already discovered 21 differences in 17 genes of trans people.

Don't know what 'not liking', being rude and insulting and being annoyed by a person's/peoples existence has to do with this discussion, as in general I would associate all of those with TRA's.

When others do not like you, and take great pains to let you know this by being rude and insulting, that's a them problem, not a you problem. So be your happy authentic self, it's not your fault you annoy them by existing or being different to them in some way.
So VS, when you make it obvious that you don’t like posters, and make it obvious, that’s your problem.

Biology is indeed a simple concept - there are two sexes. If you shout about black being white from now until eternity, it doesn't make it so, but of course you can always troll, cancel, threaten and/or intimidate people into keeping quiet about the truth. It changes nothing. Call yourself what you like, live as the person you want to be, behave as you wish,but there are two sexes.
