Spotify dumps deal with Harry and Meghan

That's the thing .... when you hang a garment on a coathanger, the fabric falls beautifully, but when you put it on anyone with the slightest bumps, it clings and looks dumpy.

That's why designers aren't as clever as they'd like us to think - hanging clothes on a tall, skinny model with coathangers shoulders doesn't require the same skill as making well-cut clothes for most normal women.

And you need to be tall too.

If she’s going to be the face of Dior I would have thought that was just advertising their cosmetics and fragrances, not their clothing.

This is what I assumed. She has a nice face (with the ability to create several different "looks" and her hair is attractive too so I would think makeup is what they would go for.

She is a strange shape (not as strange as me though ) so not clothes.

Yes you're right. What we meant is that Meghan isn't the right shape to be a clothes model. (see white coat dress). She does have the right face for seductive perfume advertising though.

Mind you I have just travelled on a Brittany Ferries boat where Dior"s J'adore took centre stage in the Duty Free shop and on all the posters round the ship. The shape of the glass perfume bottle is very far from Meghan's body form and colouring. Dior will need to launch a new bestseller.

Her face is known all over the world so that will carry some clout whatever she advertises.

Would be a very good reason to avoid the label?

You don't need to be a super-model with a tall, skinny figure to advertise perfume.
Anyway, it would be good to see some models with normal figures for once!

Nothing wrong with Meghan. It's the couturier who got it wrong on her shape.
I'll try and find the critique... but I'm a bit busy.

I think it was either in Tatler or Vogue, some expert designer commented. Anyway, here's a quick snippet.
Having a short torso (nape to waist length) means that anything where the belt is on her natural waist will make her torso look too short for her body.
As a result, the high neckline on the coat ended up “swallowing” Markle’s neck, making it look shorter than it really is.

I hadn’t noticed , she is short waisted

Hang on someone further up said she was short from waist to hip, now she's short nape to waist!
Her neck looks quite long to me and very prettily framed by the collar.
I'd settle for her body any day. 5ft 7in so not too tall, with nice boobs, a good waist and slim hips. She's a good example to younger girls, not like the anorexics who sometimes model clothes

The Guardian, which I know is the holy grail of truth and accuracy for some posters, is running a piece today about H&M and Spotify. Apparently, Bill Simmons, head of podcast innovation and monetisation at Spotify, has called H&M grifters. It's reported that he said "I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. ‘The Fucking Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we should have launched with them,” Simmons said on his podcast, the Bill Simmons podcast. “I have got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories … F**k them. The grifters.”

Glorianny I'll go by Tatler's judgment on that one. They are usually very fair and have often written glowing articles on Meghan's other outfits, especially Stella McCartney and Emilia Wickstead.
Even Givenchy got it wrong once too.

Meghan Markle's face and head are extremely photogenic, and she presents as a very glamorous woman.

But I imagine Dior, if choosing someone to advertise their exceptionally expensive products, would favour someone who inspires admiration, not a woman whose photograph is presently provoking the reaction: 'Oh NO, not her again!

The fairy tale image is somewhat tarnished now.

When a Company allies itself with a celebrity they make a judgment.

This person has more who like and follow than those who dislike and will reject the product because of the association.

I think it goes a little deeper than that Gloriany.

In a January 2022 episode of his podcast, Bill Simmons said: “You live in f***ing Montecito and you just sell documentaries and podcasts and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the royal family and you just complain about them."

They seem to be attracting a lot of negative publicity and ridicule in America now don't they?

I don’t understand why why some posters have described Meghan as dumpy. She’s not in the slightest bit dumpy. Also if she was to become the face of Dior she wouldn’t be going down the runway in live shows. It’s totally different but whether Dior do want her remains to be seen.

Regarding Meghan’s figure, it’s certainly much better than mine. Some of her clothes fit well and look lovely, others not so much. I have seen her in outfits that fit very badly, but this does matter because she’s a private individual now.

Meghan's personality may well have started off very much in Cinderella mode, with Harry as her Prince Charming, but I would suggest that the Fairy Tale has long since morphed into a Horror Story, very much of their own making. How any potential sponsor can still see them as worthy of attention is beyond me. Game over where that's concerned, I think. Even if they continue to dish the so-called dirt for more blood money, I suspect that the public have become rather bored by the constant whinge. Same old, same old.. I know I am..
