I do not think they are being indoctrinated - they are learning to think of others and also to call out hypocrisy when they see it - that does not have to be party political.

We are quite happy for children to learn compassion in school and support charities with their classmates.

Baggs - I am sure that you had the wit to make up your own mind when you left home!

I did watch the video and I think that they have a difficult path to tread as a family group .

They are all multi- talented and come across as bright and compassionate but they will need to be much more media- savvy to steer clear of controversy and avoid being ‘used’ .

Sorry Wyllow I’ve always found them a tad preachy, rather like some US based religious groups.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks those kids are being indoctrinated. There are plenty of great songs without political commentary that the family could be singing all together to show off their musical skills.

I speak as one who was also subject to a certain amount of political indoctrination as a child. It was not done publicly though. It's fine for kids to know about their parents' political inclinations but making them spout them in public makes me uncomfortable.

Am I the only one who’d never heard of this family?

So, your problem is with the children singing in public, not the satirical tone of the lyrics?

Why then do you not attack the parenting of those whose children appear on Britain's Got Talent, The Voice, etc. What about all the children who sing in public with a school or church choir. Goodness, I sang in Manchester Cathedral a couple of time with my school. Just think of "views and judgements" imposed on me by the words I sang. And we were literally "paraded" in and out!

Have you nothing better to do than "other" people? All this "They are not me and do not share my views, therefore they are wrong" or in this case bad parents may make you feel better but it is ultimately very destructive.

Education and parents are out there working hard to raise children who are intelligent, informed, compassionate and able to objectively look at the bigger picture

We still have adults running around parroting news paper headlines and venting misdirected anger at vulnerable, innocent demographics as a result

Children parroting views?

The youngest is 11, children are intelligent and able to have opinions on many things at that age. They are literally taught how to make their own informed decisions in primary school.

Children parroting views sounds like a small child coming into school saying "girls can't play football" with absolutely no thought behind that statement, just something they have heard an adult say.

Or another one I've heard "boys can't marry boys" which is also factually incorrect and another example of a parroted view.

Or sometimes it's a misunderstanding and they believe giraffes live in a zoo because that's the only place they have ever seen one and they are taught about habitats instead

These parents have used facts in their teaching and their writing. Education likes facts

I would be happy for my children to "parrot" compassion.

I watched them once as a result of seeing a reference to them on here.
Was not impressed, either by content or performance.

Obviously if they want to make a career of their family (think ^the Osmonds^) it's their choice.

Talking about politics with your children is one thing, parading them all over social media for other’s enjoyment / ridicule is another.

So all those condemning the parenting of this couple would never have talked about politics or newsworthy items to their children and discussed them together?

The children all appear capable of making their own voices heard in such a discussion. Perhaps you would not have allowed any discussion amongst your family? I wonder if you sensored the newspapers coming into the house to ensure that they were balanced as well. I wonder if you censored the friendships you had so that nobody they met, would put forward a contentious view?

Some families discuss politics and current affairs in depth and some families never do. I know everyone will throw the "I have a right to my opinion " phrase at me, but I really would like to know, while you may obviously have a view, you think it is your right to publish your views on how these people should parent?

We all impose dietary and religious views in our children- even when we think we don't.

Is there a difference between this and religious, dietary or other views being imposed on your children though, I’m not so sure? The older boys are 16 and 14, I don’t think they would take part unless they wanted to.

Children parroting the views and opinions of their parents doesn't sit right with me either. Would you be so amused and supportive if they were singing in praise of political views that were opposed to your own?

I have followed this family for a few years and initially found their videos entertaining. They are definitely a talented family.
However, I do wonder if the children are allowed to have independent views of their own, rather than those of their parents.

I can't explain why, but I feel uncomfortable about the whole set up.

I don't like this family's involvement of the children either.
And actually I don't think they're very good.
