Is he a bot or merely incapable of thinking for himself?

Whenever interviewed or answering questions live, the Prime Minister ‘rinses and repeats’ ie repeats one sound bite. The interviewer can ask four different questions and the PM seems only able to repeat one answer - the topic he is pushing that day! So is he a ‘bot’ ie merely a parrot of his team’s latest thoughts or is he merely incapable of thinking for himself?

Germanshepherdsmum - the 'right kind of money man' is surely someone who knows that we need a healthy economy to flourish but has a wider vision than that - a vision about welfare, health, education, the environment, care and compassion.

Yes

And how do you know, after such a short time, that Sunak is lacking in any of this?

*I cannot take seriously a middle aged man who dresses like a schoolboy whose mother refuses to buy him a new school uniform although he has grown out of the old one*

Maybe someone needs to send him to the same publicity company that "made over" Margaret Thatcher. They taught her how to speak up without screeching and how to power dress.

It is silly (and also something about which women are always complaining when their appearance and choice of clothes is mentioned!) to focus on appearance like this. The fashion, apparently, is for shorter length trousers.

The PM does not look unsmart or unsuitably dressed for his job.

Whether he is or will be remember as a 'good' PM is the important issue and that will not depend on what length of trousers he wore while in office. I'm sure his tailors are right up to the mark.

I did see so

Iwtwab12bow Mon 26-Jun-23 15:39:15

I did see some graffiti that said " Boris Johnson combs his hair with a balloon " just a thought.

biglouis Mon 26-Jun-23 15:40:11

If you want to be taken seriously as a leader than you need to look like one.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 26-Jun-23 15:43:33

Agreed Baggs. He obviously keeps up with fashion and is expensively dressed but always smart and presentable, unlike his predecessor. He’s not paid to wear clothes that people on GN like, he’s paid to be PM. Commenting on his choice of clothes is petty and irrelevant.

Applegran Mon 26-Jun-23 15:52:20

Germanshepherdsmum - I cannot be sure that the PM lacks the kind of vision I described - but nor have I seen any evidence of his having such a vision. I hope he has.

Give him a chance! I have faith that he’s a sincere man who wants to make a difference.

polly123 Mon 26-Jun-23 16:59:47

He and his interview responses are becoming increasingly robotic. He consistently uses the same old political phrases and responses instead of living up to his much publicised pledge of integrity.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 26-Jun-23 17:00:57

Where is the lack of integrity?

Lesley60 Mon 26-Jun-23 18:58:01

He has no concept of how real people live and neither does he appear to have any real empathy
The sooner his party is out the better nobody can wreck this country any more than the conservatives already have, we are on our knees so it couldn’t get any worse
People are dying due to the lack of nhs beds, Go appointments and lack of ambulances can it really get any worse if any other party runs the country.

Johnson’s Honours is one example.

If he wanted to make a difference he wouldn't be endorsing the BoE tipping the country into recession.

We have had this brand of economic thought for the last 13 years and the country is suffering badly for it with run down services and people getting more and more desperate as they are tipped over into poverty.

Once the tories have been booted out next year I'll be surprised if they get back into power for at least a decade...

There are more intelligent ways to manage an economy.

Do you think he’s totally ignorant just because he’s rich? Yes, you do. Do you know him? If you don’t your opinion is somewhat worthless,

Johnson’s Honours is one example.

He ran away from the vote on the Privileges Committee report.

It'a astounding that he, and most tory MPs, couldn't bring themselves to support the principle that lying to Parliament is a very bad thing to do.

VioletSky Mon 26-Jun-23 19:36:47

I must admit I haven't paid much attention but maybe replacing politicians with AI would be a good thing lol

Oreo Mon 26-Jun-23 23:02:10

It seems ignorant to me to think that any politician who has money would be incapable of imagining what it’s like to live on a reduced income. Do they really think that those in government should in the past have been jobless or living on any kind of benefits and living in a one bed council flat in order to do their job properly?

Where did Lesley60use the words "totally ignorant"?

People on here often don't understand the issues of poverty, so why do you suppose Sunak, in the top 1% of the top 1% is able to? He may well feel sympathy. However, as a Conservative politician and PM all he is interested in is winning an election or at least not losing it as badly as they currently look as if they may.

That is the nature of Conservatism.

He also doesn't seem to connect with the public. Even if he could understand what he has done to the poor and is now going to do those on higher earnings.

So what does he say to show his understanding. "We have got to hold our nerve". Holding our nerve will not put bread on the table. It is more the sort of thing you would have said to someone new to the trading floor (when there was one) in the Stock Exchange.

He is simply and sadly not cutting it. Oh! But he will cut some taxes in the run up to the election. He still has to be as much of a winner as he can be.

grannybuy Tue 27-Jun-23 08:39:56

Although he hasn’t actually experienced it, there’s a possibility that, with the wealth he has lived with, he may be very aware of how difficult, if nigh impossible, it must be to live on what some people have.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 27-Jun-23 08:41:33

You have a warped view of Conservatism Daisy.

What has Sunak done to the poor? He has done plenty for them. Think about the cost of living payments and support with fuel bills.

Let’s be honest - no Conservative PM will ever ‘cut it’ for you.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 27-Jun-23 08:42:50

Indeed grannybuy. We don’t have to personally experience everything to understand it.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 27-Jun-23 09:11:18

DaisyAnneReturns

I would respectfully point out that you do not have to personally experience something to have empathy and understanding of a situation.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 27-Jun-23 09:16:35

You are implying by your posts that nobody who is in your opinion wealthy and/or Conservative can understand what it is like to be poor and/or have money worries,
which is quite frankly untrue
