...the largest national peacetime debt ever;
...the largest tax burden since WWII;
…the highest core inflation since 1991;
…the fastest interest rate rises since 1989;
…the biggest fall in the living standards in our history

Johnson was certainly a leader (so was Hitler) he had the power to convince gullible voters that his policies were right. He used Brexit as his means to gain power, which was fine until he had to be accountable.

I don’t call Boris a great man. He thought he was but proved himself not to be. He got the job he dreamed of and threw it away.

BevSec Fri 30-Jun-23 20:29:42

I do agree with your above comments, I suppose he had the big ideas but had a team around him to work out the details! I guess all great men have flaws!

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 30-Jun-23 13:57:38

Dear Lord. Perhaps hard drives should be interrogated in the case of documents drafted on computers.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 13:48:07

Labour have called for the original documents rather than photo copies

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Jun-23 13:47:31

Unless the document is professionally shredded or burnt to ashes it is usually possible to retrieve what was written on it.

Good old forensics.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 13:47:17

There are photos if Sunak using the pen.

MaizieD Fri 30-Jun-23 13:45:47

P.S This might only apply to one make of ink

I read with interest and frankly no surprise, that Sunak uses erasable ink when writing notes.

Shouldn’t believe everything you read Whitewavemark2

Worry not.

According to a twitter thread I saw, erasable ink is erased by heat (the heat generated by friction when rubbing it out) but the writing can be restored by freezing the document...

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 13:40:47

I don’t

Thank you for explaining fully Dinahmo. I won't be commenting further.

What a diva!

Here's an easier to read full transcript of Goldmith's resignation letter

I didn’t notice that ZG mentioned incompetence - rather a change in priorities.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 30-Jun-23 10:57:08

I did my best to provide you with an explanation of a simple concept but you didn’t want to understand as it undermined your argument (though I’m sure you did understand precisely what I was saying).
You have said that Sunak is incompetent - I am merely asking for examples of his alleged incompetence. As I am unaware of instances of incompetence I shall assume you are unable, rather than unwilling, to provide examples.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 10:52:22

Zak Goldsmith has ideas about Sunak’s incompetence 😄😄

MaizieD Fri 30-Jun-23 10:51:27

Germanshepherdsmum

Perhaps you would clarify Sunak’s incompetence Maizie. Some explanatory examples would help.

You're having a laugh, aren't you? You repeatedly refused to explain a statement for me on another thread. I am reciprocating.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 10:50:48

Zak Goldsmith resigning because he has been found guilty of contempt, but at the same time tearing into Sunak’s record as PM.

Did qualify for a payment during lockdown? Perhaps not if you weren’t on furlough or running a business, Neither did I. But we’ve had help with the cost of living haven’t we?

In order to qualify for the self employed handouts during covid you had to have traded during 2018/19 and have submitted a tax return for that year before 23 April 2020; to have traded during 2019/20 and intended to continue trading in 2020/21.

The first covid cases in the UK were recorded in January 2020.

As happens every year, some people decide to give up employment in order to become self employed. There are thousands of people who decided to start a new business on or after 6 April 2019. These people did not qualify for any of the SEISS grants. They were not Mystic Megs and could not know that several months down the line there would be a pandemic; they should not have left their employments and they should not have started a new business.

There is at least one person on here who did not qualify for this help. No doubt she will also be commenting.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 30-Jun-23 10:35:04

Very true.

I suppose he has delivered us from Truss!

Who, along with Kwarteng, caused many of the problems

Or exacerbated them so that they accelerated

The PM has delivered...I thought it may have been the new Johnson baby🤣
