It is a victory but there is a long way to go to stop the abuse of women.

I agree Bodach. I have never been what most here would call a feminist. Probably because I spent my working life in what was a men’s world and got on with them perfectly well, doing the same job and neither expecting nor getting special treatment. I tend to get on better with men than women.

And yes, I find Clarkson amusing.

Clarkson was referencing an episode of the popular TV series "Game of Thrones', in which a pretty odious aristocrat (mother and manipulator of the Boy King) is forced by a Cult leader to undergo this ordeal. It was a joke, for goodness sake. OK, a joke in bad taste, but no-one in their right mind could surely have believed that he was seriously advocating such a fate for Meghan. And I cannot see what is specifically misogynistic about it; he could well have said the same about Harry.

For some it is a joke, for other women it is how man thinks they should be treated.

GSM We all know you have a legal background, you must therefore know about landmark rulings, when a judgement is made which will affect future actions. This is one such ruling. IPSO has never before ruled that an article in the press is misogynistic and sexist. Now you may have found it amusing, but for thousands of women, who experience domestic abuse the publication of such stuff only reinforces and gives value to the views of their abusers. The case was brought by the Fawcett Society, who have campaigned for women for over 100 years, and the WILDE Foundation, who work to support and empower women who suffer domestic abuse. Obviously the article just amused you, for other women it had much more harmful results.

Bodach, can I salute your good nature. To see the joke in that column shows you have a well-spring of kindness that is rare in the extreme. Perhaps we all should try to learn from this.

Between him being allowed to publish and self-hating Sarah Vine of the Daily Mail talking about being sexually groped in public and deciding to treat it as 'a bit of fun' it isn't really such a shock that so many girls seem to be bailing out of identifying as female.

The journalist and former Top Gear presenter caused uproar after writing that he dreamt of the day when Meghan was “made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.”

Why anyone should care about the opinion of someone as deeply unpleasant as Clarkson has always been a mystery to me. He appears to have the mind of a rather disturbed arrested adolescent. So does this mean that he and the Sun will now be hit for damages? No trivial sum, I hope...

Sexist, spiteful, malicious, yes definnitely indecent, glad to hear the news.
Clarkeson is a nasty piece of work, even his wife admits he can be very misogynist. Point is, it may not be a huge example GSM but imo we shouldn't give men the space to do this to women.
