Bonus Holes..as an alternative to a vagina.

From a Woman's charity, dedicated to women's health,

What a revolting name, for a vagina. Who thinks up this nonsense?🙄

Julie Bindell has written an article for the DM:

"As holes go, they are arguably the most important in the world. Every man and woman ever to have lived – except those born by caesarean section – has sprung forth into this world from one.

And yet a charity dedicated to women's health, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, is suggesting that the word 'vagina' could be referred to as the 'bonus hole' to avoid offending or excluding trans men or 'non-binary' people.

As a feminist campaigner, I am appalled. I've spent time over the decades trying to raise awareness among women about our bodies.

I've encouraged women to unlearn the shame associated with our biology.

So the idea that we should stop referring to the vagina by its name is grossly offensive.

I grew up absorbing the message that our bodies were dirty.

We would use euphemisms to describe its parts, because 'vagina' and even 'breast' were considered unpleasant.

I recall, back in the Eighties, buying tampons only to have the shopkeeper quickly put the box in a brown paper bag as if it were a porn magazine. But we feminists learned to take pride in our physical form.

I would shake the tampons out of the bag to make the point that I was not ashamed of menstruating. After all, it's a reality for half the population.

It's worth noting that this form of McCarthyite censorship is reserved for descriptions of female anatomy only. That's why this is nothing short of misogyny.

There is no such suggestion, of course, to swap words that men use to describe their biology.

Perhaps, to be fair, we should change 'penis' to 'flesh roll' to avoid offending trans women? I'm sure men won't object. Just a thought."

I couldn’t stop laughing when I read the article yesterday and thought “you cannot be serious”. After my initial reaction and realising they were indeed serious I feel outraged that we women have been reduced to having bonus holes. A vagina is a vagina not a bonus hole or even the more passive front bottom as a lot of people like to call it.

The term is so degrading and derogatory to women - woke gone mad.

Urmstongran Sun 09-Jul-23 12:26:33

Ugh. Beyond awful.

“I was a woman and now I’m a man so while you’re fiddling around down there lovey you may discover I have a bonus hole.”

Stop the world I want to get off ...

westendgirl Sun 09-Jul-23 12:24:46

Time to stand up and shout out we are women with breasts,
vaginas and clitoris .
Stop trying to deny us.

Shelflife Sun 09-Jul-23 12:16:36

I despair too! I really don't understand . There appears to be an undercurrent of something sinister happening - it scares me ! Why is this nonsense directed at women? Chest feeders, bonus holes, people with a cervix!!!!!!!😡😡😡😡
What the hell is happening? I too am a woman with a vagina and I did not chest feed my babies, I breast fed them . There is a section of society out to eradicate woman hood - should we worry? We most certainly should!!!!

It’s time this nonsense was stopped. It really is an insult to every female in the world. Who do these individuals think they are? This woke business is really going too far, and it seems to me, is aimed primarily at biological females. Such derogatory terminology does not seem to be applied acceptingly to biological male anatomy, but it seems perfectly acceptable to insult females with such ridiculous terms.
It’s getting to the point where we don’t know what to say in case it is suddenly an insulting term but this is absurd and disgusting.
Enough is enough.

In my post at Sun 09-Jul-23 11:53:32, for "shovelling coal" please substitute "shovelling nutty slack".

TerriBull Sun 09-Jul-23 11:56:12

So utterly insulting and contentious is such a euphemism, it's hard not to imagine that we haven't wandered back into some God awful 1970s time warp. I sometimes feel that some of the aggressive faction of the trans movement are so deeply misogynistic together with the women who would seek to facilitate their war against natal women, that there isn't a lot of difference between them and an old school misogynist such as Jim Davidson.

Aveline

'flesh roll' 😂😂😂

‘Sausage’ might be apt. You could add the colour, e.g. ‘vaguely purple sausage’.

Not that I’m suggesting it, but I do remember one Christmas my usually very proper mother extracting the big turkey neck from the bag of giblets, and saying to my newly married sister, ‘What does this remind you of?’ - and then collapsing in hysterics. 😂

Elegran Sun 09-Jul-23 11:53:32

Someone posted that the term is meant for woman-to-man trans people, who don't actually want to have/keep a vagina, so if that is true, and they want to call their corresponding orifice something else, then fair enough, but they can't get away from the fact that whatever they call it, it is a vagina.

It sounds horrible, though, on a par with a coal-hole for shovelling coal into. Maybe that is part of shedding any vestige of their female selves in favour of macho crudity?

Witzend Sun 09-Jul-23 11:43:32

I think I’ll stick to good old ‘fanny’, thanks.

pascal30 Sun 09-Jul-23 11:38:54

I'm getting so tired of this rubbish... and such a revolting name suggestion too. Bonus for who?

DiamondLily Sun 09-Jul-23 11:36:03

Surely it's counterproductive anyway.

No biological male, whatever he identifies as, is ever going to need a cervical smear, vaginal scan or anything like a hysterectomy.

Those things are exclusive to biological females.

Amy biological male trying to go for a cervical smear is not going to get very far with it...🙄

There's also the point that a health charity needs to be relatable to all cultures of females.

Anyone who doesn't speak English, as a first language, is likely to be more confused. Most people recognise long standing female organ terms - who on earth would relate to a "bonus hole"?

This just undermines femininity - biological women are entitled to their descriptors not being changed on some crazy whim of misogynists. 🙁

catladyuk Sun 09-Jul-23 11:24:33

i'm just lost for words, it is utter stupidity. how long is this ridiculous woke, not wanting to offend etc going to last, when are 'they' going to realise how pointless it all is?

Katie59 Sun 09-Jul-23 11:05:45

I’m the one that is grossly offended alone with women in general, I have breasts, a vagina, a womb anyone who seeks to belittle that offends me!.

Sago Sun 09-Jul-23 11:03:49

What message is “bonus hole” going to give to children?
It is unbelievable but sadly true, these expectations from the trans community are doing their cause no good.
It is turning the “average Joe” against them.

Oreo Sun 09-Jul-23 11:01:26

Tho tbf this is just one stupid suggestion by a stupid woman in a charity.

Oreo Sun 09-Jul-23 10:59:23

GrannyGravy13

The worrying thing is that I am no longer surprised.

All the years of suffrage women’s liberation and of course the feminist movement and we are reduced to Bonus Holes

I can only conclude that the misogynist community must be very afraid of natural born women 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

BlueBelle Sun 09-Jul-23 10:58:08

Let’s start a protest and get our banners out
“Vaginas only”

'flesh roll' 😂😂😂

Vegan sausage?😂

Salti Sun 09-Jul-23 10:56:45

Absolutely disgusting! I find it hard to believe that a "woman", am I allowed to use that word, dreamed this up.

Beckett Sun 09-Jul-23 10:56:16

I wonder how many trans men and non binary people they spoke to about this. Is the charity just assuming they would be offended? How about the offence caused to those of us born female?

henetha Sun 09-Jul-23 10:56:09

Society seems to be going through a weird phase at the moment. I hope common sense will soon prevail.
I'm a woman and I have a vagina. What's wrong with that?

Luckygirl3 Sun 09-Jul-23 10:56:02

Bonus hole - this is a McEnroe moment - you can't be serious.

I despair. I just despair.

BeverleyJB Sun 09-Jul-23 10:55:12

These changes in language, badged as being “inclusive” are nothing of the sort - all part and parcel of the gender identity ideological movement which seeks to erase women. If you call a vagina a ‘bonus’ or ‘front’ hole it dehumanises women, something that porn addled males seek to do.
