I know the last thread was taken down at the op’s request - but if anyone wants to continue discussing this major news item I’ve started this one.

Might be a good idea as a society to look at the damage sites such as only fans do. We wail about the mental health of young people but do bugger all about looking at what the issues might be. There are of course complex power issues around paying for sexual services, it's why for example Hugh Grant was the purchaser rather than the provider.

Yes that is the name that has been going around for a while.

I bet there won't be a welcome in the hillsides now for him.

Now he’s been named, will they also name the other person concerned?

I sincerely hope not. The young person deserves privacy as they have had this brought on their head without their permission.

It takes a lot to gobsmack me but this has.
Huw Edwards?
He is one of the highest paid in the BBC and the most senior. - I believe Gary Lineker and Zoe Ball get more than him but why oh why does a person give in to whatever urges they have to the extent where they jeopardise marriage, career, the respect of others and all of their family.

welbeck Wed 12-Jul-23 18:07:27

yes, as expected.
i discovered it by chance y'day, while goofling something else.
the news feed placed the headline about the bbc presenter, and then a picture of him directly underneath but in another story about pay.
so it was obvious.

The police have found no offence committed.

I am very sad for him and his wife.

I don't know what else the BBC has to carry on investigating.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 12-Jul-23 18:06:25

The Police have issued a statement saying that on the evidence that they have so far that there will be no further police action, no criminality.

He hasn’t resigned, his wife has named him, said he is in hospital and asked for privacy.

Yes, the BBC has just confirmed that.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 12-Jul-23 18:04:10

His wife has written a statement and named him.

She also said that he has serious mental health issues and is in hospital.

BBC has just said that he hasn’t resigned.

BlueBelle Wed 12-Jul-23 18:03:41

So named at last

merlotgran Wed 12-Jul-23 18:01:40

It’s all out now.

Doodledog Wed 12-Jul-23 18:01:10

He has been named, and has resigned.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 12-Jul-23 17:50:11

Very much a professional I’d say. You’ve made some pretty unpleasant comments to other posters on this thread haven’t you?

NanaDana Wed 12-Jul-23 17:43:41

Seems to me that the kangaroo court consists of certain posters judging their peers.

"Pot calling kettle... how do you read me? Over... " I'm a mere amateur... grin

Oreo Wed 12-Jul-23 17:41:24

I agree NanaDana

Everyone judges people by their comments or behaviour.
In this case it’s my opinion on comments made.
I don’t know who the BBC presenter is but wouldn’t dream of putting a comment about him in any way on here, we simply don’t know what has occurred.

NanaDana Wed 12-Jul-23 17:39:39

Oreo

According to my opinion.
Saying of the presenter ‘maybe he will get help from a prison psychiatrist’ means you think he will end up there.Hardly a funny throwaway remark.

Yes, Oreo, and according to several other opinions too, mine included. Ironic that the retort should be :"According to your judge and jury"... but perhaps that irony is lost... Don't they realise what they're doing? I honestly don't get it.

Kangaroo court, Oreo? Yes indeed. There's a lot of it about... and the idle speculation continues apace. Who needs soap opera when we have such imaginative plots at hand, spelling out who did what to who and when and why? Pure fiction, of course, but still imaginative. smile

No Doodledog you did not say ‘if that were true’ you said -

Quote Doodledog Tue 11-Jul-23 17:03:32
No, I didn't mean you grin. Or anyone in particular - I was speaking generally.

Maybe he will get help from a prison psychiatrist.

Dog, meet bone.

Maybe means 'there is a possibility'. It was a throwaway comment. This is not a court of law, and such things are allowed 😂

Seems to me like your own kangaroo court Doodledog

Does it? According to your judge and jury, I assume?

Oreo Wed 12-Jul-23 17:15:35

Things are no clearer today and so far the young men who have come forward with stories about the presenter show no wrongdoing on his part in law morally or ethically it may be wrong if you feel that way about it.
