If the boy was 17 it would have been illegal. Presumably there is no evidence of this activity taking place whilst the boy was under 18, therefore the police aren’t interested. Or possibly no actual evidence at all.

The fact that sex is legal at 16 whilst making images is illegal to 18 May challenge some but, it’s the law.
I suspect it’s policed as sensibly as the illegal sex between a 14 and 16 year old. If it’s co sensual, not exploitative, prosecution vanishingly rare

Absolutely. And gagging people who speak out about this sort of thing is not the way forward, IMO. There have been many people saying for a long time that these scandals run very deep. An obvious problem is that if media personalities are involved, it may not be in the interests of media channels to discuss it, so exposes are quite difficult.

With any luck, the Schofield/Edwards stories will have shone a light onto areas that have been very dark indeed for too long.

That’s rubbish. I’m no fan of DW but I know he’d already gone to New Zealand before the HE story broke. He also went on tv yesterday and stated categorically he hadn’t issued one word on the Huw Edwards story.

Why should they?
Why do they?
It claims to help others, to normalise it and to a certain extent it does. Certainly much better than the fear that lesbians and gays had to live with in the past.
The same way as being dyslexic, or having dyscalculia or ASC or mental health issues is no longer something to be ashamed of or to fear.
The opposite effect is everybody’s got it fatigue. e.g. Listening to the radio to and from work, hardly a session goes by without someone mentioning their mental health.

Perhaps we will see those with mental illness speak out more, hold celebration days like Gay pride .
