Why do they want his phone ? Just curious. I wouldn’t want to hand mine over,either. Is it a police state there now then ?

The person has to be under arrest or the police must obtain a warrant before they can legally seize someone's mobile phone.

I think the phone has faked its own death and is living in sin beneath the North Sea with Rebekah Vardy’s agent’s phone. Can we drain the North Sea?

I believe they need the phone because end-to-end encryption prevents them reading the messages otherwise - that’s why various governments keep trying to ban it.

That surprises me, more often than not it's those on the left that call us a police state.

I think it's the first phone actually as the second was "afterwards" so the first is the one likely to have been the important one.

He changed his phone, half way through Covid, due to his number being posted online.

Officials said that the phone had been "mislaid".🙄

I don't know if they're talking about the first phone or the second.

But, both should be found and handed over - they were work phones.

Handy that right wing media are managing to bury this and Osbourne email saga under the BBC story.🙄

This is a far more important matter than the distracting non story about the BBC presenter. Strange coincidence that Murdoch gets that all over the media while his buddies Osborne and Johnson have more serious things going on. 🤔 I hope Johnson gets charged with contempt of court.

BJ seems as per usual to believe he is above the law. Obviously he has lots to hide. Do you think one of us could refuse to hand over our phones in such a situation?

There is some security problems with this phone apparently. Since when did the powers that be actually need the device to find out what’s on it just the number.

Returning to the point: what a surprise. The man lies like most of breathe, and thinks he is an exception to all rules. I hope the courts demonstrate that nobody is above the law.
