Is it , retreating with its tail between its legs. The Sun usually comes out fighting

Our country would be a better place without it

DaisyAnneReturns Wed 12-Jul-23 20:25:34

So it should be. And so should some on here who have swallowed every word they have said without bothering with a truth test.

Louella12 Wed 12-Jul-23 20:26:01

I think The Sun did try to come out fighting but with any luck this could finish them off.

Vile newspaper. If you can call it a newspaper.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 12-Jul-23 20:26:36

Well, it is saying that it will publish nothing more and cooperate with the bbc.

I can’t think what there is to cooperate with the bbc with!!

I would be happy for the Sun to fade into the sunset. Awful rag.

MayBee70 Wed 12-Jul-23 20:37:11

What’s happened? I’ve been out walking in the pouring rain ( I was going to say walking the dog but then remembered that she stayed at home because of the weather..)

I don't think anyone has 'swallowed every word', have they? People have pointed out (much to your amusement, if memory serves) that the timing of the story was 'convenient' to the Tories, and that the only substance to the first story was that a mother had gone to them with a complaint that the BBC had refused to recognise. I personally pointed out at least twice that there were few, if any, facts in their report, when others were speculating that the report was full of lies.

I think recollections may vary on this one.

Couldn’t agree more WW. This rag needs to go now.

Just remind me where I commented on anything about "the timing of the story was 'convenient' to the Tories", please Doodledog. I know you don't generally care but accusations require evidence not opinion.

When the revolution comes, The Sun and all who sail in her will be first against the wall.

Blossoming Wed 12-Jul-23 22:39:14

The Sun is indeed back pedalling to cover its ass.

I assume the same distaste will also be expressed for the BBC, as now BBC staff are making allegations.

You're right. It was NanaDada who found that post amusing. I apologise.

You are wrong that I 'generally don't care' about the accuracy of my posts though, and there is really no need to be so utterly nasty. Is it not possible for you to discuss something without resorting to insults and unpleasantness?

I didn't say you don't care about the accuracy of your "posts".

I won't reply in your style but it would be good if you replied to what I actually said or we will both get muddled.

Where and who please Galaxy.

With so many of the previous sources of accusations, reported on GN, having turned out to be groundless, it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask.

Thank you. I will try and find these or, perhaps, you could provide a link which would reference your accusations.

The Times, like The Sun, is also owned by Rupert Murdoch who is determined to bring the BBC down!

DiamondLily Thu 13-Jul-23 07:48:31

Although I'd like to see the Sun disappear, along with a few other papers, there is the point that the people that started this were the young man's estranged parents.

They might like to explain themselves, as it now turns out that everyone was over-age, and their child's privacy has been breached by them.

I do think that this non story was overblown by some media as a distraction from some saga that was building up around George Osbourne, his bride, the wedding and an email sent, by someone very close, to all the wedding guests, alleging certain things.
