Am so upset and outraged that a mother was arrested with her young son by Met Police as having not paid bus fare…Mother had paid bus fare .. am physically disgusted with MET police
They have traumatised this young boy and CANNOT understand these charges..

Do we produce links when asked?

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:39:51

If it's fine for a young black woman, it is fine for anyone right?

Manhandling vulnerable, disabled, elderly over £2 when they bought and paid for a ticket?

DiamondLily Tue 01-Aug-23 16:39:16

Yep, they were doing their job. If you don't produce a ticket/pass when asked, they do what they do.

Whoever it is.

It's turned out to be a non story.🙄

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:37:56

Yet, it was in her hand

Does that not concern you?

I mean, I would lose my ticket in seconds being me, would I expect that level of manhandling over a ticket for a few quid?

No

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 16:24:13

No not guilty until proven innocent VS. She was suspected of not paying because she refused to produce the evidence that proved she had, despite being asked three times to do so.

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:21:18

Where is the story?

Google has failed me and I would like to read it

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 16:19:46

Thank you DL but I doubt that'll be the end of the story.

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:18:25

Sounds a bit dystopian to me

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:18:03

So guilty until proven innocent?

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 16:15:35

It was only known that she wasn't a criminal and had paid her fare when her ticket was made available for examination VS.

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:14:25

Link please

DiamondLily Tue 01-Aug-23 16:10:00

The transport inspectors and LT police have been cleared of any inappropriate behaviour.

End of story. 🙄

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 16:03:47

Lol

No evidence of those here Mollygo
Despite your perceptions

Only people saying there is no need to hurt a woman in front of her son when the ticket is in her hand

No need to call her abusive when she wasn't being

No need to call her a criminal or worse when she had paid her fare all along

What are you trying to say by arguing against that?

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 16:02:32

Well one bigot is one bigot too many but what does that have to do with this particular incident?

Mollygo Tue 01-Aug-23 15:57:08

British people, or any others who support those who refuse to obey rules or who support those who pick and choose the rules they will obey make me ashamed to be British.

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 15:56:40

Too many bigots in this country

Stormystar Tue 01-Aug-23 15:55:41

Smileless I’m not claiming anything I wasn’t there, and even if I was I’m very aware we all see and interpret situations very differently. I live in London and I’ve seen the video and
my sympathies are for the woman and child, as clearly MP Webbs are too.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 01-Aug-23 15:52:23

eazybee

Claudia Webbe, the MP expelled from the Labour party for a conviction and suspended sentence for harassing and threatening with acid a friend of her partner. Refused to stand down, now standing as an independent.

Thoroughly nasty individual, shouldn’t be in parliament.

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 15:51:40

Where is the evidence that she was singled out to show her ticket?

People like the one in that image make me ashamed, not to be British because unfortunately they don't just exist in Britain, just ashamed.

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 15:41:20

People like the one in that image make me utterly ashamed to be British

They are everything that is wrong with this country

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 15:39:32

According to Twitter, or X as it is now known

She was singled out to show the bus ticket

Claims she was abusive by ticket staff have been withdrawn

And then you have people like this utter joy to behold (sarcasm) saying she is a criminal and must be a drug addict

Yay UK?

VioletSky Tue 01-Aug-23 15:29:50

I doubt people hold the thing in their hand they don't want to show people

I don't know how you can look at that evidence and not be moved sincerely

Thankfully relatively few people across the internet think manhandling her was proportional which gives me hope we aren't headed to some sort of dystopia like the US

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 15:22:58

I guess she should have just shown her ticket when she was first requested to do so VS.

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Aug-23 15:22:03

Are you claiming that this only happened because she is a black woman Stormystar?
