Am so upset and outraged that a mother was arrested with her young son by Met Police as having not paid bus fare…Mother had paid bus fare .. am physically disgusted with MET police
They have traumatised this young boy and CANNOT understand these charges..

VioletSky

I'm glad for you

If you can show me where you believe I used ASC as a card, rather than explaining why I found a comment personal... Maybe we can move past this

It wasn’t me who brought up ASC

I have just responded to your posts.

We wouldn't in my family...

We all struggle at times because ASC is diagnosed due to struggles and we just live and support each other through it

We also support each other, we have a sense of humour which is probably unique to us.

None of our very large family take ourselves seriously, life’s to short to be serious.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 21:10:00

But I haven't used ASC as an excuse for a single thing

Any other area of my life it is helpful for me and others to know

Here it is a stick to beat you with

Fleurpepper I can only speak of what I know.

When a cheeky teenager comes back with but I am autistic as a response to a request or reprimand, as a family we know that they are playing the ASC card

They admit to doing so, nothing appalling at all.

I am the first to defend anyone on the spectrum.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:55:11

Fleurpepper

Yes, VS, with you all the way here.

Thank you

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:54:33

I am obviously not the only one who sees issues with the way this discussion is going

Fleurpepper Mon 31-Jul-23 20:54:05

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:53:11

I don't have a problem with different opinions

But I object to mine being twisted in order to further argument

Fleurpepper Mon 31-Jul-23 20:53:08

'Playing the ASC card is not allowed in our family.'

what an appalling comment.

Some of the bias here is very conscious. My last comment.

Many of you have no idea what it is like to be targeted again, and again. The repetitive and cumulative effect can lead to very negative reactions. Some of you will call it 'chip on the shoulder' - I will try and see it in a different light- because it has happened to good, intelligent, sensitive friends of mine, and they told me about it. Some of my students too. And some family members, who grew up as 'coloureds' during the whole apartheid disaster.

Your examples are what you believe to be fact. That doesn’t make it true.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jul-23 20:49:24

I can only speak (post) for myself, I am defending your accusations of bias and privilege towards me, due to my differing views on the OP.

Nothing personal, no slurs or insults.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:41:14

I haven't played an ASC card

This is another poor example

All that is left on this thread is me and a few of you, I'm just defending myself... Why continuously put me in that position? I haven't said anything negative about any of you

I've simply shown you examples of unconscious bias, something everyone has in at least some areas and yes that includes me

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jul-23 20:37:14

Mollygo I have no idea either (post of 20.34)

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jul-23 20:35:48

I do not know you, so I cannot like or dislike you.

We have an AC who is in the process of being diagnosed as neurodivergent, a teenage GC who is neurodivergent (high functioning) and a toddler GC who is being assessed at the moment.

Playing the ASC card is not allowed in our family.

Mollygo Mon 31-Jul-23 20:34:07

This thread is supposedly about a lady who refused to show her ticket when asked and then had a tantrum, upsetting her son. No one has disagreed that her behaviour was upsetting for the child.
No one has said that some people have the right to refuse to show their ticket when asked, whilst others don’t have that right.
No one knows why the refusal was necessary.
I’m not quite sure why all the recent posts are not about that at all.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:16:34

Unconscious bias again

Blame the person you dislike rather than consider other possibilities

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:15:28

I always say when I report

So if I haven't said it and you've lost a comment someone else thought it against guidelines

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 20:08:38

Unconscious bias

Do not like someone so do not believe them

eazybee Mon 31-Jul-23 20:05:35

You chose to announce it some time ago on GN.

Mollygo Mon 31-Jul-23 20:04:31

VioletSky

It isn't me though is it Molly

And asking me more questions as if I have questioned any part of those events

Stop being so personal, or you will push me to report, you are lucky I didn't report the ASC comment comparing me to a child

Maybe I should

I said my DGS is ASC and he used to make comments like I won.
If you take that to be a comparison with you, that’s your choice. I referred to my DGS.
Report away. And thanks for all the warnings about your predilection for reporting.
This thread is about a woman who refused to show her ticket when asked, and threw a tantrum in front of her son, not about you.
I show my ticket when asked, as does my DGS.
She had that option and chose to have a tantrum which unsurprisingly upset her son.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 19:55:28

Except

I am ASC which she knows

It's been used as a stick to beat me with a few times

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 19:54:27

Mentioned that should say

Do you speak in acronyms? I have a feeling that you do as you throw them around and just assume that it’s common parlance.

It wasn't me who originally me toned ASC, it was Mollygo when she spoke to me
