Are you irritating in RL? (light hearted)
I think someone got out of the wrong side of the bed
Alex Chalk the justice secretary described Anderson’s language as ‘salty’ but ‘not bigotry at all’ ‘his indignation is well placed’.
What is happening in our country when someone like Anderson is elevated then supported by our government

So what if Kandinsky supports or doesn't support Nigel Farage or UKIP who are still a political party by the way, what's it got to do with you.UKIP are now the Reform Party. Having said that the Conservative Party have pretty much morphed into UKIP .
UKIP still exists, it’s led by Neil Hamilton. It may only have two members though.
So, what’s it campaigning to be independent of then?
I wouldn't know how many members UKIP or any political party has, I don't belong to any Party.

Your wrong UKIP is still an active political party, Nigel Farage is now with Reform

Exactly.👏👏👏
I thought that Brexit was going to bring an end to us having so many people entering the country? Or am I missing something here?

Asylum seekers can apply to work after 12 months. That is on the proviso that the delay was no fault of theirs.
That’s interesting MS I wonder how many of them actually do this?
It's not unconditional.

(Oh, that's weird, the copied &pasted address to this document had a 'p' added to the end when in transition. When I tested the link before posting it led to a 'page not found' message. Removing the errant 'p' made it work. Very strange)

Primrose , I didn't call you racist , so please get off your high horse. A little more pity and an effort to try and understand the desperation of some of these people wouldn't come amiss.
You cannot prove that these asylum seekers are economic migrants. No one can until they have been processed. So please call for earlier processing and more of it.

As this thread is as much about the language used as the sentiment expressed, may I ask all of those GNs on here, who took such exception to Miriam Margoyles using the word 'Tw#t' on a previous discussion, but are now accepting, and even approving?, of the 'salty' language of Lee Anderson, was it because she is a woman swearing, but it's okay for a man to do the same?

Maddy one you say Britain is not a racist country but look at some of the posts on here, which if not explicitly racist come across as verging towards.
Oh for goodness sake! To say we don’t need any more people from other countries is not being racist!!! You know full well that in recent posts people have spoken well of Ugandan Asians, Ukrainians have been welcomed but because many of us say we do not want illegal or economic migrants you call us racists.

France receives a much larger number of asylum seekers than Britain – around 113,000 in the year ending March 2022
Please look at the size of France on a map or globe and take note that it's a much bigger country than Britain. There can be no comparison. The population density of Britain is 274.9 per sq km. and of France 123.7 per sq km. Our population density is more than twice that of France.
But do a comparison with Italy Sparklefizz and the argument doesn’t stack up. This expectation people have that France somehow has a responsibility for keeping people needs to be knocked on the head. We need to move on from Little Britain.

*Me neither. the vast majority of your 'circles', not mine. Do I remember corrrectly that you were a paid member of Farage's 'party'?*
I’m not talking about ‘my circles’ I’m talking about the country as a whole. And yes, I’m pretty certain the majority of the country agree with him.
Of course I don’t know that for sure, but then neither do you.
And as for me being ‘a paid up member of Farage’s party’. Do you mean UKIP? the party who got us out of the EU? The party millions of us agreed with? The party who changed UK history? You make an entirely legal party sound like some banned underground movement 😂
But just so you know ( & so you can update your notes). I’ve never been a paid up member of any political party, not that it’s any of your business.
So not a member, and I have no notes, just a good memory. There are ways and ways to support a Politician and his campaigns, apart from being a member btw. Your comment certainly indicates clearly that you support him all the way. May I remind you that his party has been wiped off the face of the UK since ... so that would state that few support his goals, no?
Plenty of entirely legal parties in the past were legal - and look what happened.

I wonder how many of us are in that book.

The thing is, granting them leave to do paid work has it’s problems, do they speak and understand English well enough?
Since they would probably be joining a workforce with women in it are they safe people to have around as we know little about either their culture or their possible criminality?
A lot of migrants destroy their ID and any papers and often claim a different nationality to their true one.
The only thing I agree on is a drive towards faster processing of claims. If they are humanely treated on barges or in renovated military camps then that’s good enough.
People waiting to have applications processed should work. Many come here because English is spoken in their country of origin
Is there any evidence that asylum seeking men pose more of a threat to women than home grown men. So far as I can see, no there is not.
It seems all posters believe we need to process claims speedily. Open borders isn’t the solution. Neither is suggesting ‘they’ stop in the first safe country. Italy/Greece take so many, other European countries take more than we do.
The question about why young single men arrive has been answered so often, it’s not worth responding to.

Anderson’s comment has neither power or validity
Reported today, Italy has had 93,000 migrants so far this year, they are calling it an invasion and asking how long should it be allowed.
