An election looms, so I think it is time to look at all the success over the 13 years that we have witnessed from the government.

Well, coming from me you can’t expect fulsome praise, but honestly? If I could find something I would.

Oh I know! If you are wealthy you have done very well - so that can be marked as a success.

Ok, I'll amend that and say that, in the opinion of many, including me, Starmer is disappointedly indecisive.

So, factually, how many? And when did they ask you to represent their views? How did you collate these opinions. What proportion of the voting population felt differently?

You are still nowhere near a fact. Even those you believe agree with you are just a guess.

Sorry, you could find out if you need to know absolutely precise figures.

Well actually more people dislike Starmer than like him-39% dislike 27% like. So actually they probably find him indecisive or perhaps duplicitous.

And that's my "angry" contribution.

I’m surprised by the comments in this thread, Starmer isn’t going to please everyone who may vote Labour but is the best chance of beating the Tories. In the same was many Tory voters dislike Sunak but currently he’s the best they’ve got.

Indecisive, if he is during the election campaign he will not win the media will crucify him as they did Corbyn, so we had all better hope that he is keeping his powder dry.

I haven't read the article yet but I don't think the "and not you" can be correct as I didn't express any opinion, I just asked questions.

What you are really telling us is that you, not Callistemon21 think you have found what you believe to be evidence that supports what they said.

I don't feel any need to know, any more than I want to read the weird quotes from Grany. It all just biased personal opinion Callistemon21.

I do find it quite interesting to find out what Labour are doing and why though, just as I like to find out the same about the other parties.

Well Grany and *Callistemon21 at least you don't get cross
Everything you write is both angry and negative. People get fed up with other people's ire. You do not put forward anything positive or even answer others' questions. You seem to want to be angry, tell others what they are thinking and then tell them they are wrong.
and you aren't
trying to ram anything down anyone's throat.
And you are Weird Quotes together. I'm "Angry and Ireful^ all on my own! sad

I notice that Sunak is once again polishing his US green card credentials, by sponsoring university degrees in US - you know - the sort he said were rubbish in the U.K.

He better get a wiggle on as he only has perhaps 1 year maximum to get organised.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 27-Aug-23 07:36:42

I don’t think that it has been mentioned on GN, but Sunak has “failed” to mention so many conflicts of interest that he is beginning to look more corrupt than most. His family are going to benefit financially from so many actions by his government.

Grany Sun 27-Aug-23 08:41:31

Rachel Reeves confirms Labour won't raise taxes on the rich. Conservatives

In an interview with the Telegraph, she confirmed the following:

❌ No wealth tax
❌ No mansion tax
❌ No income tax rises for the rich
❌ No increase in capital gains tax

Apparently, Sir Keir Starmer has accepted more corporate hospitality than every other
@UKLabour
leader put together. I wonder why?

Water companies are asset stripping, loading debt while moving £millions in dividends out of the UK. All while polluting.

Only renationalised water can stop this.

Labour supports privatised water. Tories.

Unite’s research shows that the current privatised energy supply, transmission and generation system isn’t fit for purpose and is failing the country. The solution is clear. Public ownership of #energy will not only save households money but also help get inflation

@MannieMighty1

Instead of protecting our public services from the Tory government and their billionaire donors, Starmer is nothing more than a security guard for them, keeping any resistance to the Tories at bay, while the 99% continue to get a kicking.
Why vote Labour? He's on their side.

You’ve also neglected to mention the model that is in place in Wales, which as you live here you must be fully aware of?

Oh yes of course.

The most recent is the conflict of interests over the Indian Trade agreement
From the Guardian

“Rishi Sunak faces a new conflict of interest row before a G20 summit in New Delhi next month over claims that his family could stand to benefit financially from a post-Brexit trade deal that he is negotiating with India.

MPs and trade experts say there are concerns at the highest levels of government over potential “transparency” issues relating to his wife Akshata Murty’s shareholding – worth almost £500m – in the massive Bengaluru-based international IT services and consultancy company Infosys”.

We know that he failed to declare his familial interest in childcare sector befor3 the recent government policy.

“The latest controversy comes after the prime minister was reprimanded last week by parliament’s standard’s watchdog for failing to properly declare his wife’s separate shareholding in a childcare company that stood to benefit from new government policy. “

These are two examples and others can be found if you look.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 27-Aug-23 10:48:02

Do we want a trade deal or not?

As I have said before, he has been very disappointing. When it comes to voting intentions that also seems to have been the opinion of a fair number of normally Conservative voters.

He got the small bounce upwards in January, because of the rebound from Truss falling through the floor. But anyone, with the least bit of credibility, would have had that. He didn't regain even half the voters she lost. Since then he has simply maintained this lower level.

MaizieD Sun 27-Aug-23 10:56:05

Germanshepherdsmum

Do we want a trade deal or not?

Actually, if it is as unprofitable as the deals that have been negotiated so far, no, I don't want a trade deal with India.

Particularly if it means Sunak's wife's family firm dominating our IT industry and getting crony contracts. (Though, hopefully, the tories will be out of office before that can happen)
