‘Grandad’s Pride’. Really?

More like ‘smut under the radar’ hoping to make this acceptable (inclusive?) behaviour. Yuk.

A PRIDE children’s book featuring men in bondage gear was shown to four-year-olds in pre-school, it has emerged.

Parents had raised concerns with staff at Genesis Pre School, in Hull, East Yorkshire, after it was brought to their attention that children were being exposed to the images.

A staff member had checked with parents of the nursery pupils if they were happy with the contents of the book Grandad’s Pride by Harry Woodgate to be shown to their children, but one flagged images of “partially naked” men in “leather bondage gear” as concerning.

A member of staff then defended the images, arguing that children wouldn’t understand the erotic and sexualised depictions.

What are your thoughts on this book?

What people are saying about MAP is a complete lie going around the internet

That isn't in the book at all

*Total conspiracy theory*

If you look on Amazon or YouTube you will see the illustrations for yourself.

I didn't know that about English "Mom" every day a school day on Gransnet.

I wouldn't read it to children.
Grooming.

Pride

So - what is Grandad's Pride?

Proud to be a Grandad? A father?
Proud to be a useful member of society?
Proud to raise money for charities?
Proud of his achievements during his working life?
Proud of his garden in retirement?

Kate1949 Tue 22-Aug-23 17:47:59

I say mom and write mom as do all my family.

Callistemon21 Tue 22-Aug-23 17:44:53

Kate1949

We say mom in Birmingham and spell it 'mom'. I have never heard/seen a Brummie use 'mum'.

I write Mum but say Mom.

One of the illustrations shows a picture/ poster which says MAP which stands for Minor Attracted Person. This seems very sinister to me, and along with some of the other illustrations, nothing short of grooming.

Well said nightowl. Insidious placement.

BTW I didn’t know what a MAP was. Creepy - and against the law to mention it? Almost trying to normalise such stuff.
Why oh why are some people accepting of/trying to promote deviant behaviour?

What is going on here with the education of our infant children?

Me neither.

Paedophiles. Punishable by law.

If children dont understand the erotic and sexualised depitions, why show it to kids of 4 who would not understand it.

Precisely.
Why not read them a book on Quantum Physics for Infants?
The pictures could be lovely!

😁

That's more like it!!

Oh, perhaps not, the pictures are boring.

Grandma70s Tue 22-Aug-23 17:40:00

I don’t think you need to worry about the ‘promotion of deviant behaviour’. There is vastly more promotion of what you probably call ‘normal’ heterosexual life.

growstuff Tue 22-Aug-23 17:37:47

As a matter of interest, after the parents had expressed concern, was the book read to the children?

Greenfinch Tue 22-Aug-23 17:37:38

I did too . Likewise horrified!

merlotgran Tue 22-Aug-23 17:36:31

Well, I had to Google minor attracted person and I’m horrified! 😮

It looks very small town American. I hope if there is a separate British version they change "Mom" to "Mum".

People in the Midlands say Mom
However, it is written as Mum.

Given the wider picture I think that’s the least of our worries.
Mine anyway.

Tail wagging the dog comes to mind!

Many years ago two childminder friends and I were walking with a group of children through the woods locally.
Coming the other way towards us was an older man, holding a dog lead which was attached to a spiky collar around a young man's neck. The young man was dressed in very skimpy black leather shorts and not a lot else.
I said, "Good morning" as we passed and they replied in return.

None of the children seemed to notice and none of them passed comment.

Callistemon21 Tue 22-Aug-23 17:29:08

I agree that small children will begin to wonder if there is something wrong with their family of Mum, Dad and child/children if fed a diet of diversity.

Surely there's nothing wrong with a sensible explanation and chat within a family if a parent/grandparent goes on to prefer a same-sex relationship?
I don't believe this is the job of nursery or primary schools.
It's a form of indoctrination with young children being targeted.

Grooming works that way doesn’t it? Begin by showing or doing things that children don’t understand. It’s sickening.

Hear hear👏🏻👏🏻

I would not want my 4 year old soon to be reception Grandaughter reading that. There is so many other good books she can read.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It’s just urrrrgh!
Schools have been brainwashed to show any old crap that’s deemed ‘trending’ and just go along with it.
Be kind! Diversity! What rubbish.
