I just don’t understand this. She lied, she shared confidential information which any other employee would have been sacked for. Nothing happened. She must have something on somebody very influential in Nat West/Coutts.

This is par for the course.
Just reward someone because it is expected.
My H was in LG
It was

It happens all the time in local government.
Pension off all the incompetent officers on a huge pension and replace them with your favourites.
It has always happened and always will.
This is just much higher up the food chain.

Sorry for fat fingers there.

Yes, no surprise here, but I share your outrage Primrose.

No surprise really. Client confidentiality counts for nothing.
Although may have a get out written into her contract,in which case if not honoured she would have sued Nat West.

I just wish they’d deduct 48% of any sum as that’s from us - the taxpayers - who bailed out the bank at the time.

It will all have been negotiated in her contract, which all these high-flyers insist on before they accept the job, because they have (apparently) the ability to make money for the business. Never mind lying or breaking the Bank's code for which minor employees would have been sacked. Doubtless another lucrative job to go to, where she will make more money for herself and a very select few. No trickle-down factor.
Utterly corrupt.

I think it's another example of a person in a corporation or public body failing upwards. I was very disappointed in Rachel Reeves, a politician I admire, to declare her ousting was somehow down to her being a woman at the top, when in fact nothing of the sort, she broke a cardinal rule sharing information about a customer's account. I think it's disgraceful that she is in line to receive this payout, contracts clearly set in stone no matter what, and will no doubt secure another lucrative position somewhere else. How bad do people have to be in high positions before they become a persona non grata. The management at the Chester Hospital were able to overrule consultants' who have the expertise to make critical and relevant judgements, but were sidelined, in the meantime the vastly overpaid executive staff leave with pay outs and merely go on to a highly paid positions at yet another Health Trust. There is something seriously wrong in public life. Personally I abhor how much the top strata get paid whether it is in the public or private sector for their so called expertise when they are failing at the most basic level.

The usual mantra is that we have to pay the maximum in order to recruit the best people or else they'll go abroad. Judging by the current lot of incompetents perhaps salaries should be reduced so that they go abroad and recreate mayhem wherever they end up.
