Just had a phone call telling me that Nadine Dorries has finally resigned. Best thing that’s happened to me today ( blocked sewage pipe and now just hurt my good) hand….

Wheniwasyourage Sat 26-Aug-23 18:40:14

And about time too!

Ah,
Go-Nads.

And she (finally) went.

Dinahmo Sat 26-Aug-23 18:51:47

Excellent news.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 26-Aug-23 19:02:18

Golly what an incredibly self serving unpleasant letter.

Happygirl79 Sat 26-Aug-23 19:46:59

totally sums Dorries up . Horrible woman. Her letter to Sunak is just a taster of the bitter insults to come in her book. She's hoping more people will buy it. Greedy woman.

Incredibly, among the hodgepodge of conspiracy theories, self promotion and downright unpleasantness Dorries has inserted some nuggets of truth. Sunak has reduced inflation (but then, neither have the chancellor or the Bank of England), he's failed on the immigration front and has made a mockery of net zero with his granting of licences to fossil fuel companies.

What fun....

ronib Sat 26-Aug-23 19:48:21

And she’s writing a book about it ….

MaizieD Sat 26-Aug-23 19:48:31

Damn. That should be 'Sunak hasn't reduced inflation.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Aug-23 21:42:18

I thought that the OP meant she had shuffled off, only she resigned months ago.

Nobody will notice anything except the tax payer who has been keeping her for bugger all for months.

And she’s writing a book about it ….

She writes fiction, doesn't she? 🤔

Of course she had actually resigned hadn’t she. DH phoned me up to say she’s finally gone. But, watching the news she still hasn’t actually gone! Maybe she’s been having lessons In narcissism from her beloved Boris. She does like to be in the public eye, doesn’t she.

Horrid woman indeed.
She's the MP for the constituency next door to mine. My friends are sick and tired of not being represented, not being helped or heard. Their worst fear? That Matt Hancock or BJ himself will replace her.

Charleygirl5 Sat 26-Aug-23 22:27:18

I wonder how much the severance pay or whatever one calls the lump sum is? Is it not good to know that we as taxpayers will still be keeping her in a manner we are not accustomed to?

MaizieD Sat 26-Aug-23 22:27:57

I think that after publishing that letter in the Daily Mail (or Mail on Sunday) she will have no choice but to at last send in her formal resignation.

To add to tory woes, Theresa May is on the verge of having a book of her memoirs published, due to come out just before the tory conference. There are, apparently, some jitters about that, too, because she has things to say about brexit and Johnson. And she won't tell the whips just what is in the book..

I should think that this might worry the tories more than Dorries' threatened book will, because May is unlikely to write a work of fiction...

Wyllow3 Sat 26-Aug-23 22:35:48

As well as all the big news items its clear her own constituents have been massively let down.

And I don't think she cares she is happily drawing a salary whilst politicking and writing and ignoring those she is supposed to represent.

Attlee Sat 26-Aug-23 23:05:58

Well, I have to say that she's not wrong about Sunak is she?
Yet she conveniently forgets that she played a part in all of this. She was a member of he front bench, for goodness sake.
She has taken her salary as an MP, and has failed her constituents, hasn't held a surgery in years, she hosts a programme on 'that' channel, writes a column for the Daily Mail...
She's a grifter.
Clearly, she's just a bit miffed that her entry to the HOL's has been stymied 😔
Her resignation letter displayed a total lack of class.

Grantanow Sun 27-Aug-23 00:26:07

Her resignation letter shows why Sunak was right not to put her in the Lords. Oblivion calls though I think she'll be noisy for some time to come. Hopefully most people will disregard her.

NotSpaghetti Sun 27-Aug-23 00:35:11

The letter went on and on - totally ridiculous. She even reminds him of her book! 🙄
What an obnoxious woman.

No, it's Festus someone that's their candidate. I did read, ages ago, that she intended to time her actual going, in order that the by-election is held around party conference time, thereby hoping to embarrass Sunak if the seat is lost to either Labour or the LDs.

She had a majority of 25,000 so who knows?

Crikey, no one has ever rung me to tell me an MP has resigned.
Why all the hate towards this woman. Is it because she says it as it is, and doesn't follow the establishment view?

Wheniwasyourage Sun 27-Aug-23 07:53:44

Hate is too strong when most of us don’t know her Freya5, but she arouses dislike and even contempt for taking a public salary without bothering to turn up in parliament and do her job. Not to mention being a Boris Johnson toadie until he didn’t give her a peerage!
