To begin with I'm sure many found his acknowledgement helpful, but I wonder how helpful it is to others who don't have the access to the various therapies H's had, his wealth and privileged lifestyle to know that despite these advantaged, he's still no further on.

IMO it matters not who his audience is and I don't think he ever takes that into account. He's a 'one trick pony' now which is a great shame when he once had so much to offer.

I might be incorrect but didn't all this 'poor me, poor me' attitude start when MM came into his life?

Absolutely right. Until then he was happily binge drinking and drugging himself, obviously he should just have carried on doing that.

I started to read the article but I’m so bored by it all that I gave up. They seem to be doing a lot more apart now and pictures of them together at a Beyoncé concert showed how bored and disinterested Harry was. His facial expressions always speak volumes.

By contrast, an article about Meghan’s ex husband detailed how happy, successful, and wealthy he now is.

Meghan may have encouraged this misery fest but I bet she’s tiring of it now.

Rosesand Lilac An excellent article - thank you for the link.

When MM was suicidal! she said he found her on the floor

Harry traumatised after war ! memories of his mother’s death
ended up in a foetus position on the floor

Harry is stuck in this rut and I don’t see Megan helping him out of it. Perhaps she is unable to.

Does she even want to?

Those two had the world at their feet and could have done so much good on a global scale.
That would have been a truly fitting tribute to Diana.

I suspect many will still find his acknowledgement valuable. Perhaps not if you are of the "just suck it up and get on with things" persuasion, but many of the people he is speaking to will have had their own battles with trauma and survival, and recognising that there is an alternative, that you don't have to do the traditional stiff upper lip, even if your family don't support you, will be meaningful for them. Maybe Harry knows his audience better than most do.

I agree the poor poor me only came about when MM entered his life. They make a good pair both self obsessed victims and attention seekers.

You're right. It did.

The situation is now beyond repair. He is so damaged and is married to a woman who is also damaged. He has turned his back on family and the
' institution ' yet takes royal titles for his children! He is stuck in a cycle of self pity , unable to see his way out. I do have sympathy for him and look back to the fun loving cheeky prince - so sad! Avalon , where indeed will it end !?

Very interesting article. Harry is stuck in this rut and I don’t see Megan helping him out of it. Perhaps she is unable to. I don’t think it’s just about commercial gain. He has become obsessive about perceived wrongs, often incorrectly remembered and just can’t help himself, and neither can anyone else. He could have a lovely life if he could just let go. One wonders where it will all end.

Smileless2012 Mon 04-Sept-23 08:53:22

I agree, a perceptive article. The constant 'woe is me' rhetoric is tiresome and totally inappropriate in a speech for the Invictus Games, where all those taking part have overcome life changing injuries acquired while serving their country.

Yes, but he has a living to earn and its his only saleable asset!

this has been all over the news for past week, surprised it's found it's way here via mumsnet.

He’s a complete self obsessed moron.

I came across this article posted on MN.
It strikes me as very perceptive as Harry yet again drags up his mother’s death at the Invictus Games.
It’s so inappropriate and disrespectful to those thousands of injured servicemen and their relatives that an over-privileged, extremely wealthy individual constantly turns the subject to himself.
