I came across this article posted on MN.
It strikes me as very perceptive as Harry yet again drags up his mother’s death at the Invictus Games.
It’s so inappropriate and disrespectful to those thousands of injured servicemen and their relatives that an over-privileged, extremely wealthy individual constantly turns the subject to himself.

I'm fact the press are always moaning there are too many people. Imagine how much space a member of the RoyAl family takes up. Andrew's hass 30 bedrooms. How many homeless families could live there?

WellsRose Sun 10-Sept-23 14:54:55

It's also funny when people use the words rejected the UK. It sounds like it's personal. It's not, you decide where you want to live. It doesn't cause the British people any suffering.

^I believe the reason for accepting the children's titles is so that they can decide for themselves what they want when they are old enough^ oh come on, they didn't just "accept" the titles they campaigned for them! Anyway the titles could have been claimed when the children are adults no need for them now.
Meghan has rejected the Royal family, just not the bonuses the titles can bring. What do you suppose is the reason for using the title Duchess of Sussex if not to exploit the Royal Family connection?

How did they campaign for them?

WellsRose Sun 10-Sept-23 14:42:21

The titles are not deserved by anyone. You get them through birth right or you marry someone who has that birth right Prince Andrew is still Prince Andrew even though he's a sleazebag. Sarah Ferguson is still called the Duchess of York even though she's divorced from said sleazebag and his daughters are Princesses. Lady Colin Campbell was only married for a short time and still uses her husband's name.

If we give.out titles at birth then we have to accept they have the right to keep them or use them. Archie and Lillibet have that birth right. They may decide to come back to the UK as adults. No matter how much you dislike Meghan, the children will become their own people.

It sounds like people have taken personally

The children of Sophie and Edward have the same titles but not used, they can choose to do so when adults.

Megan has not rejected the royal family, she kept the h.r.h. snd
Duchess of Sussex, they could be Harry and Megan Windsor or Megan Markle and Henry Windsor

Jaberwok thank you, very comfortable and happy x

Catherine and Sophie walk with their husbands unless in a greeting line up, then like Anne’s husband they come second ,
Megan pushes Harry aside

Good for her! Girl power!!

But not enough girl power to refuse to be defined by her husband's status, loves using Duchess of Sussex, and definitely wanted her children styled prince and princess. Rejects the Royal family and the UK but wants the titles.......how shallow!

I believe the reason for accepting the children's titles is so that they can decide for themselves what they want when they are old enough.Excellent reason. I'm surprised you don't like it. Isn't one of the complaints that Meghan has rejected the RF? Yet here she is acknowledging the children's family history whilst giving them the right to decide.

On several occasions I have seen the lovely family photograph of the the Queen soon after the birth of Princess Anne. True she was not standing outside on any steps.
She was actually sitting up in bed.
Princess Anne in her arms, Prince Charles sitting beside them on the bed.

Why would she?

America is such a tolerant country, especially with Trump threatening to run for Presidency again!

I don't understand your point. I'm on a discussion board and I'm answering people who have brought her name up.

Jaberwok Sun 10-Sept-23 12:12:15

Annie, Excellent 👍. Back to my apples!

WellsRose Sun 10-Sept-23 12:10:24

Did her grandmother in law have to put up with racism? Was he under the same level of media attention? She didn't have to appear on the steps after giving birth? Meghan seems pretty confident to me considering how much online hate she gets. She just doesn't want come back to the UK.

Mollygo Sun 10-Sept-23 12:07:09

Meghan left the Royal family and all the daft protocols behind.

But you’re still commenting on her; supporting her craving for the attention that being in the RF didn’t give her.
Keep going.

Even I would know that joining the RF isn't all about wearing Alexander McQueen pieces and eating caviar every day. If that's what Meghan thought from the media hype, then she is thicker than I thought. ( I think she is actually rather clever!)

I must admit I didn't know you would have to courtesy to more senior royals and I didn't know that the Prince's spouse had to walk behind them. I also didn-t realise that she would get threats from far right groups because Harry had tainted the Royal Blood. I bet she didn't know her precious baby would be compared to a chimp. I bet she didn't know Harry's Uncle was friends with a convicted sex offender even after his arrest.

There are no far right groups in America?

I didn't realise.

Meghan did have months of training for the job before she married Harry, knew that it wouldn't just mean marrying the man, it would mean entering into The Firm and all it entailed.

Harry claims he wasn't happy beforehand either so why didn't they have a quiet private wedding (perhaps in a lovely garden) then both go off to start married life quietly away from the glare of publicity? The perfect opportunity to leave it all behind.
Instead, there was The Wedding, The Refurbishment of The Cottage, the Royal Tours.

Meghan wasn't an innocent young girl, she was an older woman used to the limelight and confident enough in her campaigns for women's rights.

She only had to look to her Grandmother-in-law as an example of a woman whose life was suddenly turned upside down at a young age, and not through her own choice, gaining in experience and confidence.
