Harry, Meghan and the Invictus Games

Now the Invictus Games have finished, it was a triumph for M&H who showed what they were capable of, mixing and socialising with the competitors and their families with ease and enjoyment. They have been widely praised in other countries. Coverage here seemed to be patchy. Which seems a bit strange and not right for the competitors. But can anyone doubt that the couple could have been a great asset, and modernised the RF, or that Meghan looks so much happier and more relaxed than when she was subjected to royal protocol?

Seeing as they are no longer working royals, they can hardly be credited for ‘modernising’ them.

As for Meghan looking happier and more relaxed….

Just hope Harry is.

She arrived late at the games and apologised, she was delayed because she had to buy milkshakes and do the school run !

There has been reports of meghan making it all about herself and the wounded, injured or sick servicemen and women. being forgotten in the 'show it became
even Harry pushed to the back.

Yes, that was a pity, but there has been so much sport dominating our screens recently.
I do wish BBC would dedicate its Channel 3 to sport.

But can anyone doubt that the couple could have been a great asset
Well, I always said that, but it's not what they wanted, is it.
They certainly didn't show signs of economising.

I think Catherine and William will do a good job of modernisation and Charles is doing as much as he can but more gradually.

They were there doing their own thing.
It won’t have had any impact on the RF (except perhaps to be grateful H was taking a break from slagging them off.)

Apparently she wore clothes and jewellery worth £225,000 which seems obscene when so many wounded veterans are homeless.

Why did she give a speech? She's there to support Harry, not to make it about herself.

And Harry finished the games with a speech advising the veterans not to "define themselves by their backstory" .... ripe from someone who repeatedly bangs on about his own backstory.

Do we even know who won the medals? No. Coverage has been all about H&M.

Well watch some footage. He's completely happy. Much as that upsets some GNers

Meghan looks so much happier and more relaxed than when she was subjected to royal protocol?

So do working members of the Royal Family when off duty!

It's just a case of choosing the right pictures to make a point 😁

Her clothes were mostly high street brands.
The white jacket she wore proved so popular the website selling it crashed. It was J Crew.
Approximately 6 outfits
So nothing very expensive apart from her jewellery.

Not the "right pictures" much of the film available is from phones. They were very much on display, but not subjected to a rigorous protocol where they couldn't stop to have selfies or run across to shake hands with people

I didn’t see his speech. Did he really say that?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Gosh, you are really researching this!

Surely not!
Surely he couldn't be so lacking in self-awareness? 🤔

Wow!
There must be somewhere where we can read that. If it’s true, I hope he takes his own advice from now on.

Anniebach Sun 17-Sep-23 11:38:26

Must hurt her poor father, a stroke victim

Grany Sun 17-Sep-23 11:39:34

At least H&M Don't do stunts like RF do to fool public

Britain’s Monarchy is dying and no PR can save it.

Yes I can and I do (doubt); as usual it was all about them.

If your idea of modernising the royal family means behaving like that pair, no thank you. She hasn't been subject to royal protocol for two years.
And I thought Meghan looked a bit rough, actually.

You can see the whole speech here. The back story quote is misrepresented.

Some of our parents look a bit rough after doing the school run, especially those who don’t have a car.

Anniebach Sun 17-Sep-23 12:20:05

The school run and she had to buy milkshakes

nanna8 Sun 17-Sep-23 12:58:23

I’m glad they are redeeming themselves somewhat. They need to after the lies they have told.

Jaberwok Sun 17-Sep-23 13:11:49

Nothing can redeem Harry's treatment of his 'much loved??!!' grandparents ,not for me anyway. Neither of them, who loved him and did their best for him over the years, deserved such shabby behaviour. He must have a heart of stone with the untruthful accusations he labeled them, the family and this country with. Awful man.
