Charles & Camilla in Paris

They arrived in windy conditions in Paris today and Camilla looked great, although she had a "Marilyn Monroe moment" on the steps coming down from the plane. I thought the late Queen always had her hems weighted to prevent that.

But Charles - how baggy and scruffy his suit looked next to Macron. Charles is a slim man, like Macron, yet his suit did him no favours whereas Macron looked very smart.

They have got a full programme while they are in Paris. Sounded exhausting.

Taking his car, how would he have travelled around Paris if he hadn’t? Bikes ?

Well, that’s how the Danish Royals travel about…..

Re taking his own car (!!!) - they do have cars in Paris you know?!

Anniebach Thu 21-Sept-23 13:18:34

Charles should not have taken a private flight, I am sure the President and dignitaries waiting to greet him would have welcomed travellers from any train .

I know. Shocking isn’t it.
Lots on GN are doing their bit for the environment too including me.
How awful that I’m still driving my fossil fuel car (can’t afford to replace it) and booking a holiday for next year to meet up with distant family.
At least he could have gone electric and given those children mining for the scarce resources needed, a job.

I think Charles and Camilla look comfortable, which I’d much rather be than a ‘style icon’.

I think it is just King Charles going for a little more room in the trouser department than Macron, who prefers a slimmer fit.

I don't usually agree with your views on the Royal Family Grany but on this occasion I do agree.

Joseann Thu 21-Sept-23 12:36:13

Perhaps he has a secret stash of teabags and marmalade in his car! 🤣

Grany Thu 21-Sept-23 12:32:04

What a laugh isn’t it King and Queen. 😝

Charles the environmentalist decided to fly privately from London to Paris and take his Bentley with him.

You must be a nicer person than most of us GrannyGravy13. I do agree that comments about weight and posture are unkind because they are so personal, and hard to change, but I don’t see any harm in commenting on what people are wearing. I much prefer it if people are truthful to me about what I wear, and tell me if something doesn’t look good so that I improve the next time.

Not really Casdon I just find that eliminating negativity is beneficial to how I feel in general.

I do find these threads where women nitpick other women for their clothing, weight, posture etc very uncomfortable.

I have posted before that I would detest to be micro assessed each time I walked out of my front door, hence I only give praise and refrain from negative comments.

I thought Camilla looked lovely. I’m glad I’m not important enough to be photographed and picked over.

I wouldn’t call Camilla’s style ‘delightful’. I’m not sure she even has a style. Mme Macron looked chic, as always, in simple tailoring, and her posture is infinitely better than Camilla’s.

Perhaps Madame Macron has not got osteoporosis. Isn't she lucky she can stand up straight.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 21-Sept-23 10:50:54

Queen Camilla was head to toe in Dior apart from accessorising with the late Queen’s sapphire and diamond necklace and earrings.

Elegant as always.

I don’t know what counts as “style but no substance” ? No yards of frills? I think Mme Macron looks very elegant- in a Chanel type way( not sure what designer she was wearing)

I thought Camilla looked frumpy next to Mme Macron, but who wouldn’t?

Our Queen is fabulous, she has her own delightful style, following in our late Queens footsteps. Madam Macron may have some style, but no substance, boring fashion.

I think this shows that France can do lavish pomp and ceremonies and have great locations - the Hall of Mirrors is more glitzy than any British palace. The menu looked incroyable.

Looking at the other men arriving for the banquet, their trousers are all narrower in the leg than Charles' and this is what makes his clothes look too big and baggy and dated. The suit he arrived in was also too big and baggy. Narrower trousers are more stylish for men nowadays. They don't have to be ridiculously narrow but he could definitely take a leaf out of Macron's book.

I notice Mick Jagger was wearing black trainers!

I expect his suit is getting on a bit, he's not known for constantly keeping up with fashions.

Well done him.

Urmstongran

Madame Macron is 70y.
Queen Camilla is 74y.

Camilla is 76, not 74.

Urmstongran Wed 20-Sept-23 21:31:47

The king and queen were driven from Orly airport in their own Bentley, which was transported from the UK.

😱

Wot about their carbon footprints? Was that really necessary Sir - for 3 days??

Sparklefizz Wed 20-Sept-23 21:27:05

Mick's partner looks stunning.

Urmstongran Wed 20-Sept-23 21:25:45

Maybe Mick Jagger has ‘les bunions’?

He is 78y now.
His partner is only 36y - much much younger than his daughters.
I don’t know how I feel about that. Seems a bit creepy to me.

Greendress Wed 20-Sept-23 21:19:58

I think Camilla looks fantastic in her navy dress and cape. Really elegant and classy.

Casdon Wed 20-Sept-23 21:18:48

Didier Drogba and his partner arriving, now they do look sharp - if somewhat younger.
