Charles & Camilla in Paris

They arrived in windy conditions in Paris today and Camilla looked great, although she had a "Marilyn Monroe moment" on the steps coming down from the plane. I thought the late Queen always had her hems weighted to prevent that.

But Charles - how baggy and scruffy his suit looked next to Macron. Charles is a slim man, like Macron, yet his suit did him no favours whereas Macron looked very smart.

They have got a full programme while they are in Paris. Sounded exhausting.

Let's face it, Sparklefizz, the French just have it when it comes to style! We don't in the same way.
I watched two hours' worth of it here on French TV. They are just loving Charles' relaxed manner, his smile, his openness and apparently his long hair!
Yesterday's newspaper before he arrived had a photo of him in some tweed suit. 😄

Just looked at some of the pictures after reading the OP.

Surprised if Charles looked scruffy as is usually so dapper.

Thought Camilla looked very nice. Better than Madame Macron who to me always looks a bit mutton dressed as lamb.

😼

Do you think so Joseann? The longer I live here the more unstylish I think the French are. I think people in Spain and Italy are much better dressed.

Macron has sartorial French elegance in spades, never more apparent than when he was standing next to the shambolic pile of clothes that encased a man named Boris! Haven't seen the pictures of Charles and Camilla but our King does have the air of a fogey at times, well most of the time, although what he lacks in style he does make up in cheerfulness so it's good to know the French are appreciating that.

True Joseann
Maybe Charles has lost weight as his suit just didn't seem to fit him very well.

Calendargirl I thought Mme Macron looked very smart. If you didn't know her age, you wouldn't think "mutton ..."

That blush pink colour really suited Camilla.

I think Madame Macron looks fabulous. I would love to look like her.

The Italians - even just ordinary people in the street - look as if they've stepped out of a fashion shoot. Fabulous.

I took this shot from the French TV earlier, Charles' suit was fine on top, it was the lower half that didn't fit!!
The ladies looked lovely.

BlueBelle Wed 20-Sept-23 17:40:43

I think Camilla looked lovely in that pink outfit although the hat and hair seemed to be bothering her in the wind
Charles looked fine too
Having just come back from Barcelona I didn’t see anyone looking any different on the streets to here Italy may well be more stylish

This is from BBC website

My heart was in my mouth watching Camilla descending the plane steps, trying to hold on to her hat and her handbag and the hand rail whilst trying to look elegant and not stumble.

Full marks. 👏👏👏

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 17:45:51

Try again

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 20-Sept-23 17:49:43

I thought Camilla looked frumpy next to Mme Macron, but who wouldn’t?

Kate1949 Wed 20-Sept-23 17:50:30

I agree GSM.

Joseann Wed 20-Sept-23 17:50:39

😆

BlueBelle Wed 20-Sept-23 17:54:04

I totally disagree I thought she looked lovely not frumpy at all GMS

merlotgran Wed 20-Sept-23 17:54:52

Macron is nearly thirty years younger than the King. Charles would have looked ridiculous trying to match Macron’s sartorial style.

Camilla looked fine. She dresses for the occasion.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 20-Sept-23 18:00:16

Camilla reminded me a little of the late Queen Mother in her flowing pastel pink outfit. Mme Macron looked so chic in a tailored navy blue outfit. I do like tailored clothes rather than voluminous ones. There was also a marked difference in the postures of the two ladies - Mme Macron upright, Camilla stooped and round-shouldered, though of course there is an age difference.

Casdon Wed 20-Sept-23 18:00:55

Camilla looked like mother of the bride I thought, it was the colour. She was going to a wedding, Mme Macron was going to a business meeting. I liked the anchor buttons on Mme Macron’s suit jacket, very smart.

Kate1949 Wed 20-Sept-23 18:13:29

Only 6 years GSM.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 18:14:21

Last attempt at posting the phot of all four of them

Camilla’s clothes remind me of the Queen Mother. She has the best of British designers on call, yet her clothes follow the same dreary style.
It’s nothing to do with dressing a woman in her 70s,

LovesBach Wed 20-Sept-23 18:22:05

Camilla's mother suffered from osteoporosis - I hope she isn't, but I have noticed her shoulders, and the slight stoop she has now.

Kate1949 Wed 20-Sept-23 18:22:13

Mme Macron is 70.
