I was lucky enough to attend a reception at the Élysée Palace. The gold wallpaper was pretty spectacular, but I have never seen so many grand clocks in my life! Several in each room.

So it is not only accessible and open to the public it provides employment and it pays for ts own upkeep.

Buck House is a slum compared to Versailles which really is a Palace.

If you read all the available information, as I understand he wants it to be more accessible to the public. The building is currently being repaired extensively, it’s in a bad condition apparently. To clarify though, he doesn’t live there - and he can’t unilaterally decide anything because he doesn’t own it personally.

We could build a grey, functional block with a nice room downstairs for visiting Heads of State. Offices and studio flats upstairs for staff and working Royals when they need to be there.
When there's to be a banquet, sorry, supper, then they could some nice pictures from the National Gallery and get the jewels back from the pawn shop for the evening.

Or they could borrow No. 10 if they want to impress.

Oh come on they own enough property in central London to give them a wide choice. Kensington Palace, St James Palace, Clarence House?
They could still use Buck House for receptions like the French do Versailles. They don't need to live there.

I’m sure you well know that the King can’t sell Buckingham Palace Glorianny, because he doesn’t own it, it’s the property of the state. By all accounts he would prefer never to live there.

I didn't suggest he should sell it, simply move out and open it to the public full time. The money raised could be ring fenced for the NHS.

I thought earlier that she should have kept her MIL's dresser, Angela Kelly, on the payroll.

Not necessarily the bright colours which HM favoured so she could be spotted in a crowd, but the simple, classic styles were more favourable for someone of more mature years.

As a Camilla fan I believe she needs a good dresser. The navy colour she wore to the banquet suited her beautifully, but why did she have to wear such a voluminous cloak, she looked enormous as she sailed by - I could only find a photo of her seated without her cloak when her dress looked much smarter and fitted. Mdm Macron looked so chic also in navy. I was not impressed with QC’s pink or white outfits. Sadly I feel she’s inherited the Q mum’s taste in clothes.

Funny isn't it. It's supposed to be uncomfortable, impractical, dated and in need of repair. You'd imagine the RF would be delighted to move out and hand the building over to become a tourist attraction, earning money for the country, but they cling on. Living in a palace must have some attraction.

You can visit Versaille any time you want to, Buckingham Palace only on specific dates-10 weeks in the summer and the cost is a bit different. 19,50 Euros for V. £30 for BP.
