^Public Order legislation will see yet more restrictions people’s rights by:
1) Setting a very low threshold to define disruptive protesting
2) Giving police significant new powers to prevent protests occurring outside of major transport networks, oil and gas and energy supplies
3) Making “locking on” a new criminal offence
4) Extending the use of stop and search powers – including suspicion-less stop and search – to protests
5) Introducing of new protest banning orders that would prevent individuals from attending protests at all.^

Good. I’m glad they’ve done all that, for all the difference it has made. Just Stop Oil have been guilty of some horrible vandalism. I’m not sure the police needed new powers, they just need to use the powers they’ve got. Blocking a public highway has always been an offence but JSO protesters have been allowed to break the law by doing just that.
