"Today's reality is that we have a nominally Conservative government, yet I struggle to name a single thing they are actually conserving.

"Certainly not the business sector or our economy, the vitality of our high streets or the safety of my retail colleagues, our farming and rural communities, our rivers and seas, our net zero obligations, our NHS, our schools, our reputation for decency and fairness, or the future prosperity of our kids and grandkids."

Couldn't have put it better myself ....

My friend is a manager for iceland and they really do treat all their staff well and fair, whether they are full time, part time, a manager or whatever. I know my friend met Malcolm a few times on training days etc and they were always incredibly generous. They've paid for her to go on holiday a few times, amongst other things. I know this has nothing to do with the thread but I just thought I'd mention it grin

Whenever I've seen Richard Walker being interviewed I've been impressed. Also couldn't understand why he's a Tory.

I've seen head of Iceland, Richard |Walker on "Question Time" several times & thought he spoke well.

I don't know why he hasn't found a seat to fight for. ?

Well, these people have been happy to support Conservative governments in the past that still have pretty much the same sort of policies albeit being rather more successful economically than the current one. So I’m cynically thinking that they now realise they’re on the wrong side of history; or at least they will be in a year or so’s time hmm

Everyone has their breaking point. You may go along, hoping for change until you can no longer be associated with a Party.

Personally, I think we should hand more power to Combined Mayors in a system more like the Länders of Germany.

If your mayors are anything at all like ours you wouldn’t have a bar of them. No commonsense and as dumb as the provincial dogdoodoo. A few exceptions, of course.

How large an area do they look after nanna?
