Most of the ones on the dinghies would not be allowed to come here from France legally, do you honestly think that this would stop the boats do you think they would accept that I don't they will do anything to get here. As for a poster saying that the smugglers would lie to the illegals about Rwanda etc don't be so naive most of them have top of the range phones/Internet and If (a big if) as soon as they landed were put on a plane to Rwanda I think the news would soon filter through on YouTube and the dinghies would stop, whether then they would try other means to get here, who knows.

Yes, make it possible to enter and apply legally. To add. this issue is simply to distract people from the utter destruction the Tory Party have wrought on it's electorate.
The Tories have killed far more people through neglect and withdrawal of vital services than any poor sod fleeing from a country that this government probably sold arms too.

Whether France would cooperate is a moot point, but unless all options are thoroughly explored who knows? Only by talking to other affected countries can a joint agreement be hammered out, hopefully! At least there is dialogue which must be a good thing.

I thought I was going to see a picture of Sunak standing in the channel holding his arms out to physically stop the boats arriving then, I’m most disappointed.

Exactly what I thought Casdon!!!!
King Canute comes to mind as well.

An efficient processing system which enabled asylum seekers to live a normal life as soon as possible would be a good idea. Why he needs to talk to anyone in Europe to set that up I don't know.

I very much doubt it. The smugglers are as accomplished liars as the Leave campaigners; they won't tell their prospective clients that they'll be whipped off to Rwanda the minute they land in the UK (which they won't, anyway, and even if Rwanda did happen, the smugglers won't care because they'll get their money for the crossing.)

The only things that will stop the boats are processing facilities in France and safe routes.

I don't like seeing our PM snuggling up to a fascist PM.

Yes, if proper UK processing centers were set up in France and any picked up in dinghies were returned there, would be a solution.
Wether it could process the numbers in reasonable time is another matter, so is wether France would cooperate

There's that word again, facist Please do some research and you will see that there are no Facist governments in Western Europe. Right wing does not = Facist, anymore than left wing = Communism! Two expressions that are freely banded around without people actually knowing what they really represent.

Siope surely looking at historic data one needs to add in crossings via container lorries too?

I am more optimistic than you it seems. I hope it’s not misplaced.

Small boat crossings before 2018, when the EU returns treaty stopped (thanks to the UK withdrawing as part of Brexit: none

It would be entirely doable, but not by routes the ERG and related fanatics in Sunak’s own party would be happy with.

So that’ll be a no, then.

Only if they are prepared to work more closely with Europe, which a lot of the right wing will not be happy about.

Here he is, over in Granada.
Rishi Sunak with Giorgia Meloni, PM of Italy. Ursula vd Leyen was very friendly with ‘Dearest Rishi’. Brussels has agreed to UK access in real time of border controls.

Will progress finally be on the cards?
