Hamas has attacked Israel

It’s being reported that Hamas has launched 400 plus rockets into Israel along with its men shooting Israeli civilians in the streets.

Israel has retaliated with extreme force, are we heading for yet another all out war in the Middle East?

I was scrolling X (Twitter) and found the most appalling video posted by Hamas showing a dead Israeli women, stripped naked and being driven around whilst her body is being abused.

I do not think I can ever remove those images from my brain, yet again women being abused/defiled by men as an act of war.

But how will it end it once and for all? The Hamas leaders are in Qatar. Do you honestly think they'll forget about it and won't plot some new retribution? What all this is doing is guaranteeing that the hatred will continue for generations.

Cases today of Israeli civilians shooting civilian Palestinians at close range with army watching and doing nothing. A Jewish friend from Israel wrote this as a comment

'They want to create provocations to drive the Palestinians in the West Bank into a madness that will justify war there as well.'

And it is breaking my heart but I think she is correct.

I reported this elsewhere and the reply was 'Good, one less to worry about'.

No comment on what the Israeli soldiers found when they went to the Kibbutz. You’re on a sticky wicket if you want to comment on who commits the worst atrocities.

Fleurpepper that's a shocking reply to your comment. Sadly I also think there will be violence around the West Bank before this is finished.

I am also getting very concerned that the Russian major advancement in Ukraine yesterday has had no media coverage that I have seen. I know about it because I dug around on the news sites. The Ukrainian disaster hasn't gone away just because there is trouble in Israel and Gaza.

How will forcing a million people to relocate to an already crowded and partially destroyed area flush out Hamas?

I will keep asking the same question

What should Israel do ?

Exactly what they’re doing. This is the only way to end it once and for all. It’s a tragic fact of war that there will always be innocent civilians.

It is breaking my heart, but I think you are correct.

I'd be very surprised if the majority of Hamas is still in Gaza..or if the hostages are still alive.. I imagine Hamas are regrouping elsewhere and leaving the Palestinians to certain death

Then who is still firing rockets into Israel?

They’re there alright!

Tbh gg13 Israel is in the best position to deal with the bringing of peace. It has the support of the most powerful countries in the world who would be more than willing to help in this process and act as negotiators who would do so with friends of Palestine.

The major issue as you must be aware is the political position in Israel, where there is a far right extreme hard line authoritarian government.

The other issue would be identifying a group who stand for the Palestinians. IMO Hamas might claim that position, but as there hasn’t been an election since 2007, and the fact that their leaders do not reside in Palestine I would strongly question their legitimacy.

I agree with your post.

Israel cannot negotiate with Hamas, as you say they are not representative of the Palestinian people however, the Palestinian people have done nothing themselves to initiate elections or rise up against Hamas. If they were to do so I imagine they would have support from other countries.

Is it not wrong to bomb innocent Israelis?

Just what are you trying to say, Maybee70?

To suggest politicians and diplomats are the only people who can sort this out is rather peculiar.

What you need to remember is Hamas wants to eradicate all Jews. Nothing more, nothing less.

Callistemon21 Fri 13-Oct-23 12:54:46

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
And
"Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

MayBee70 Fri 13-Oct-23 12:53:28

Just saying it’s wrong to bomb innocent Palestinians isn’t saying not to do anything. We’re not politicians or diplomats so how can we know what could be done. But nothing justifies killing an innocent person.

So far on this thread alone we have had a politician isnt to be trusted as his wife is Jewish, that the Jews in America have too much influence, trope after trope, it quite astounding to watch.

Yep, it’s antisemitism alive and kicking…

They don’t have any other suggestions Callistemon
Sitting and wringing hands seems to be the only thing on offer.

I am shocked to the core at some of the responses on here.

Do you mean my comment, or others? confused

No I am at shocked that people are wanting Israel to do nothing.

To do nothing gives Hamas and other terrorist criminals the green light to carry out any heinous atrocities they wish as there will be no repercussions.

Hamas and other terrorists do not give a flying f*ck (apologies for my language but I am equally heartbroken, angry and distraught over the developing situation) about innocent children, elderly or anyone.

Governments have to play them at their game, or any country could be subjected to the horrendous attacks that Israel experienced on Saturday.

Who has said they want Israel to do nothing?

There are numerous posters against Israel retaliating.

In the end there will be negotiation.

Of course there will be. The problem is how many children and innocent civilians are they prepared to kill before then.

Neither side will come up smelling of roses.

But this time there has to be a better solution because the status quo was not working although thousands of Palestinians were crossing the border to work in Israel, to access medical treatment and many Israelis and Palestinian people were working together for peace.

Maybe it’s because Palestinian and Jews were working and living side by side in peace and harmony that p***ed of Hamas?

So the dead Palestinians will be just collateral damage?

I suggest you ask that question of Hamas, the dead babies, children, women and elderly were their collateral damage.

The Israelis have given notice, the people have more chance of escape than the Jews who were slaughtered last Saturday.

The Israelis have given notice of a move they know can't be carried out.

The people who are having to move weren't responsible for what happened in Israel last Saturday.

All Israel is doing is inviting its opponents to hate it even more and guaranteeing that its people will live in fear of retribution for even more generations. Meanwhile, it will be responsible for the massacre of thousands of innocent people.

I have asked the question what should Israel do so many times on this thread.

As of yet nobody has come up with a solution, Hamas will not negotiate, Israeli’s are angry and hurting from the attack last weekend.

Israel is defending itself against a barbaric terrorist group, with no morals, or principles their only goal is to eradicate Jews, sound familiar?
