Hamas has attacked Israel

It’s being reported that Hamas has launched 400 plus rockets into Israel along with its men shooting Israeli civilians in the streets.

Israel has retaliated with extreme force, are we heading for yet another all out war in the Middle East?

I was scrolling X (Twitter) and found the most appalling video posted by Hamas showing a dead Israeli women, stripped naked and being driven around whilst her body is being abused.

I do not think I can ever remove those images from my brain, yet again women being abused/defiled by men as an act of war.

Apparently, Blunt is a supporter of Sunak and has used it as a way of trying to warn him of the pitfalls of his approach. Sunak needs to brief some of his ministers about what they say in public because some of them are coming out with stuff which makes them look like ignorant fools (and worse). Some Labour MPs have been just as bad.

Galaxy Sat 14-Oct-23 15:50:28

I should say I would be astounded if it happens, nothing is impossible.

Galaxy Sat 14-Oct-23 15:47:59

Do I think its wise to prosecute the British government for war crimes at this time.
No
It also wont happen.

The intention to prosecute isn't about the supply of arms. It's about support for war crimes.

Yes, I posted an article on it.

I guessed it was about the supply arms before reading the article.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that comes next though.

I know you did, but people were still going on about the supply of arms being the cause.

I honestly wouldnt hang your hat on Crispin Blunt. He generally retracts his views and apologises after a few days.

Is he wrong in this instance?

Anthony Loyd of The Times has called out the picture of a young boy who was allegedly burnt by phosphorus in Gaza as incorrect.

The photo was one which he took in October 2019 after the Turkish used it on civilians in Syria.

There is a lot of falsehoods around, it’s best to double check all facts thoroughly, and not assume.

Something that I am guilty of on occasions.

Human Rights Organisation have confirmed today the Israel deployed white phosphorous..

Israel is still strongly denying this.

Online it still says that ^a human rights organisation is alleging white phosphorus has been used in Gaza & Lebanon^

They have used it before in Gaza - so presumably we shouldn’t be too surprised.

MerylStreep Sat 14-Oct-23 14:42:26

I don’t know why the picture came up. That was for another site. 🤷‍♀️

Oh thank you for enlightening me GrannyGravy.
Well indeed you are right. Saudi Arabia supply the arms that kill the Yemenis. Everyone supplies Ukraine. Lord knows who supplies the arms for the fighting that goes on in Africa or Afghanistan. Is it Russia or China? Or both?

North Korea has a very successful arms trade business.
And then you have squeaky clean 😉 countries who find a way round selling arms. No names mentioned 🤫

Well I’ve just caught up with this thread as I was away for a couple of days.
All I can say is that I’m appalled by the clear antisemitism here, right on this thread. And denying it won’t make it not so, it is, and it stands, clear antisemitism for all to read and see.
Galaxy I’ve seen nothing of yours that was remotely antisemitic, your comments have been balanced. I don’t understand why you’ve had posts deleted.

But you've had time to read the whole thread thoroughly enough to be able to accuse people of anti semitism?

I’m adding the quick comment on here, but I have had my daughter and her three children here for the last two weeks, and we’ve just returned from a hectic three days in London. Having two nine year olds and a six year old in the house requiring feeding, organising, laundry done etc is not conducive to reading links. In other words, I haven’t got time!

A few minutes? That's less time than it takes to read and respond to posts on GN.

Who supplies Israel- who is now bombing, including phosporous bombs- the whole families they ordered to flee!?!

What on earth has Britain supposed to have done to aid and abet war crimes?
I think I’m living in a parallel universe sometimes!

Have you read the link?

I do not open links from people I do not know.

In that case, you won't be able to see the grounds for the intention to prosecute nor who is behind or why.

I am capable of research

I do read/listen to news

Nothing beats going to the source rather than relying on second hand sources.

Personally, I prefer to go to the source, which the link does, but that's broadly accurate.

Here is an article about the MP and alleged war crimes

It’s still morally wrong to close the border to innocent civilians fleeing bombs.

We are constantly told how heartless the U.K. Government is towards taking refugees who arrive in boats from France, which last time I looked was not being bombed.

Not 2 million!

There is no way to be certain that all of Gaza’s citizens wish to leave.

Egypt should prioritise women and children.
