Sorry if there's another thread about this.

The tv and newspapers seem to have forgotten about the Ukranians plight. I wonder what's going on over there, do you?

Have we forgotten Afghanistan 🇦🇫 Yemen 🇾🇪 Syria 🇸🇾 Congo.
So many . Too many.
Ukraine 🇺🇦 will be very concerned 😟

Yes I was thinking about them too Exdancer Israel, Hamas etc has taken over the news. Another winter of fighting for Ukraine they must be losing heart now, I feel so sorry for their ongoing troubles.

I was trying to find a previous thread on GN. But cannot even find it.

I too find it odd that when a war starts, news items are full of it.
Roll on 18 months, a war continues, yet news coverage and peoples' thougts move on. Bizarre. But natural I suppose. Sad.

The Russia/Ukraine war is reported by all the major news outlets online, unfortunately the Israel/Hamas conflict is taking precedence on TV/Newspapers at the moment.

President Zelensky has also expressed concern that the focus has shifted over the past four weeks.
The BBC news site has a Ukraine tab for up-to-date news but it doesn't update daily anymore I think. Ukraine is still hoping that the Americans will provide military aeroplanes before the Winter.
What a dreadful mess.

Ukraine had a huge success yesterday.

We supplied the arms for the above attack 👍

I haven't forgotten Ukraine. My daily newspaper reports on most days and there's a dedicated tab for it on the BBC news web site.

Plus I get stuff from twitterX

AFAIK people said from the start it would be a long war.
If Ukraine loses Europe will be in big trouble...

Maremia Sun 05-Nov-23 16:11:25

Thanks for that info MerylStreep. Missed it on the news. Another worrying thing is that the new Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, might try to block payments in support of Ukraine.

Bella23 Sun 05-Nov-23 16:22:00

It is very worrying that Ukraine is being overshadowed by the Israeli/Hamas conflict. They need all the help they can get and really are our first line of defence against Putin pushing into Europe.
No war and the consequences to its people is any more important than another.

AreWeThereYet Sun 05-Nov-23 16:27:54

No Ukraine is not forgotten. I know soldiers who still spend their off-duty hours, including their leave, running supplies to Ukraine and have been doing so since the war began. Even if it's not reported in the news.

Yes. We and the EU need to carry on supporting Ukraine.

Katie59 Sun 05-Nov-23 16:35:47

The Russians are taking advantage of the media attention on Israel they are throwing everything at Ukraine, there is one city in danger of being surrounded and cut off

Unless Ukraine gets vastly more support than to had this year there is no chance of winning any territory back at all.

Callistemon21 Sun 05-Nov-23 16:47:08

The problem with the mainstream news channels is that they report on the latest item to hit the headlines to the exclusion of everything else for about three quarters of the time they are on.

Most people don't have time to watch the news 24/7.

PamelaJ1 Sun 05-Nov-23 16:52:35

Matthew Perry seems to have been the most important item recently. 🤷🏼‍♀️

lixy Sun 05-Nov-23 17:34:50

Thank you MerylStreep.

There was a news item on our local news about two people from Norfolk taking Christmas boxes as well as nappies and other supplies to Ukraine, leaving in the next couple of days. I'm sure there will be many others.

I have just delivered 12 boxes from our village to the woman who collects them for this area. (Our bit of Norfolk)
People haven’t forgotten .

Thought I'd just remind people about the Ukraincast podcast in case it's of interest.

We should keepour noses out of foreign wars. Resources are needed in out own country. Make the right noises and let them get on with it.

But if other countries had thought like this in WW11, what would we be like now?

fancythat Mon 06-Nov-23 09:24:46

I was thinking the same sort of thing to the comment.

I think I generally agree with you biglouis about things, but not on this.

I do think sometimes you would be right.
But there are occasions where things cant just be left. In my opinion.

It could be a fight to the death of a world power grab.
Rus sia? Ch ina? Even the US? The Middle East could go into a very big mess, even now.
It could end up being, who has the most nuclear power? And is prepared to not care either about it's own citizens?

There will be wars and rumors of wars until Christ returns🙁 It’s times such as these we are reminded to pray for peace and the Lord’s presence to comfort and strengthen us all and in particular those who are suffering🙏
