This has obviously been a while in the planning. Cameron’s ennoblement and appointment show that Sunak can think outside the box, beyond shuffling around the same bunch of people.

No one voted for Sunak to be PM although his constituents did vote for him to be their MP, but Cameron is not even an MP no one has voted for him but there he is the new foreign secretary. Dodgy dealings indeed.

The right decision IMO but he was always going to be damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Her supporters wont be happy and if he hadn't sacked her, he'd have been seen as weak.

So we have the prospect of an exPM returning, who was responsible for the whole disastrous austerity, and most of all the Brexit debacle.

Unbelievable. After Brexit which he instigated he skipped away humming to himself. He didn't see it through and left the country in turmoil. Cowardly IMO. Rewarded with a seat in the Lord's. Does that mean he can't be questioned in the Commons.

Some of the responses to this posting highlight why this country is divided in its attitude to refugees. Yet refugees are proven net contributors to the UK economy (The Migration Observatory 2022) ie contribute more than they cost. However they require processing promptly and effectively which, if focused on, could considerably reduce a lot of the complainrs associated with them. This government find it easier to stoke the hatred existing in our society while letting labour problems stifle our economy - ask any care home, restaurant etc!

There is. Teresa May would be a much better choice, she is much more steady and has some gravitas.

It always shocks me when some Gransnetters display how right wing their views really are, how anybody could support what Braverman stands for, let alone her lack of self awareness, is beyond my understanding. I do applaud Sunak for sacking her despite the undoubted pressure not to.
