Such sad news, a camping trip ends in tragedy with four young lives gone.
Police found the 4 bodies in a car.

So shocking such a waste of young lives. Those poor families!

Fleurpepper Tue 21-Nov-23 16:41:03

Same age as my grandson- really brings it all 'home'. What did they die off?

I’ve been following it on mumsnet. My eldest grandson will be learning to drive soon and, being one of the youngest in his year it means that his friends are now driving so it’s something that has been on my mind for a while. My heart goes out to their families and also the police and emergency services.

A terrible tragedy, such a waste of young lives.

How terribly sad. What awful heartbreak for the families.

Those winding little roads are not for inexperienced young drivers. They are narrow and often have a sheer drop down to a river or stream. I've driven on them many times, and you will come off the road unless you concentrate and keep your speed down. It is absolutely heartbreaking to think of those four young souls all passing on at the same time.

Absolutely heartbreaking, far too young to die RIP 💐💐💐💐

Very sad, such a tragic loss of young lives.
Like MayBee’s, my eldest grandson is learning to drive and is one of the youngest in his year. It makes me anxious.

A tragedy. Young lives wasted and devastating for their families. Our granddaughter is the same age. Recently passed her test and has a car. What can happen, to any of us, is terrifying.

Parsley3 Tue 21-Nov-23 17:10:59

This is tragic. Those poor young boys and their poor families.

henetha Tue 21-Nov-23 17:13:53

So sad for these boys and their families. My heart goes out to them.

Mamardoit Tue 21-Nov-23 17:15:51

Terribly sad. A similar accident happened close to us 20+ years ago now. Four school friends popped out of school for a lunchtime drive and rolled the car. I have always thought there is a strong case for not allowing young drivers to carry passengers.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 21-Nov-23 17:16:58

It would be good if there was a probationary period after passing your test during which the speed at which you can drive is limited and you are unable to carry passengers - but very difficult to enforce especially in rural areas where police are rare as hens’ teeth. We’ve all been young, we’ve all wanted to show off - I’m not saying that’s what this young man did, but it’s human nature.

Such a dreadful tragedy.
I’m sure we can all remember the fear we all felt when our own offspring learnt to drive and set off unaccompanied.
Now at our age we are going through the same fear with our grandchildren.
It never ends.

62Granny Tue 21-Nov-23 17:31:43

This is so tragic, I know they can legally drive at 17, but these situations always seem to happen when there is a group of them in a car , inexperience of getting out of a situation that then spirals out of their control.

AskAlice Tue 21-Nov-23 17:35:40

This news has me in tears. What a sad loss of four young lives. Their families must be devastated. My thoughts are with them all.

MerylStreep Tue 21-Nov-23 17:41:05

My 17yr old grandson is learning to drive. All his friends are older and are already driving.
It’s obvious that he’s picking up his friends bad habits and not following his mothers ( and grandmothers 😉) excellent driving.

Shinamae Tue 21-Nov-23 17:42:02

Unbelievably tragic..

Oldbat1 Tue 21-Nov-23 17:42:36

Extremely sad and upsetting news indeed. I just hope they were all killed at same time as their car was found upside down in water.

BlueBelle Tue 21-Nov-23 17:45:38

There is a scheme GSM whereby you can have a box in your car and you don’t drive after a certain time at night and any speeding or such is recorded It’s done by the insurers I think, I can’t remember the name of it but my grandson had it when he was first driving Hes actually a very good safe driver

Fleurpepper Tue 21-Nov-23 18:00:16

Granson is learning to drive too. Sends shivers down my spine

Callistemon21 Tue 21-Nov-23 18:03:17

Such a tragedy, four grieving families.
😥

AGAA4 Tue 21-Nov-23 18:31:34

The weather here in North Wales was horrendous and would task the most experienced driver. Its a terrible tragedy. I too have a teenage grandson having driving lessons so am always aware of the dangers facing young drivers.
Poor young souls 🌹
