I mentioned AI on another thread sounding as if I knew what I was talking about, but in truth I know absolutely nothing about it nor the danger it May pose to us.

I know that it can be used in diagnostic work, and no doubt other useful stuff, but when I hear that it may overtake us etc I am lost.

Is there anyone on GN who is an authority on AI, and if so would they be so kind to outline the issue in simple language please?

Thank you in advance.

All I do know is that it will change our grandchildren’s lives beyond anything we could possibly imagine.
I would say to any young person now: learn a trade. These are the wage earners who are going to be in the ascendance.
Ai will take over most tech. Think of work done by scientists, Ai is quicker than a scientist brain at finding diseases.
But then you have the dark side, think facial recognition. If someone wants a certain face in a particular place easy peasy to put that face in a compromising situation.
But look at farming, it is doing wonderful work there.

What is it doing in farming?

It can let farmers know in real time what crops need. Water, fertiliser, pesticides. This infor is at touch of a keypad

That is excellent! My goodness what a good difference that will make, particularly to those on subsistence farming - if they could afford it as well as the fertiliser, water etc.
