I just can’t understand why they keep pulling these stunts which they know will annoy people.

Who said anything about the 'calendar' (which it actually isn't) being intended to be inclusive, Primrose53?.

Did you read the screenshot of the NT's explanation that AmberSpyglass posted?

The NT say it themselves and they call it a calendar!!! See Page 4.

I’m off to bed. 😴

Well, that's a few minutes of my life I'll never get back. I read the link and didn't find out anything about "inclusion calendars".

Maybe a trip to Specsavers might be the thing for you then growstuff. I even gave you the page number!! 😝

I love dog-free NT places - such a relief to escape from the hordes and never worry about stepping in shit or being nudged in the groin by a random canine.

Virtue signalling ? What good little people they are. Pass the sick bucket ..

growstuff Sun 26-Nov-23 00:37:16

Where can I get one?

nadateturbe Sat 25-Nov-23 23:05:23

I saw it Primrose. I'm off to bed too. 😴

I think everyone has understood, albeit with a little correction. Well I did.

Hmmm ... if everyone has understood, why are they still bleating on about it?

But it’s not a nice little free calendar they gave out - it was an internal document flagging dates that volunteers might not have been aware of. It’s not erasing Christmas or Easter because it wasn’t that kind of calendar!

Do you ever get times when you lose the will to live? 🙄

Not quite, but there are certainly times when I lose the will to explain anything to people who won't listen.

This is how they’ve explained it. I think people are assuming calendar in the sense of a printed item, but it looks like this was just a list of additional dates to consider.

Leaving stuff out is not inclusive (which the “calendar” was supposed to be).

Why do they need to even give volunteers such a thing?

A pic of the calendar/supplement would be useful.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 25-Nov-23 19:01:24

I’m beginning to wonder if people have lost the ability to read.

Siope Sat 25-Nov-23 18:53:48

Nobody produced an actual calendar. It was guidance for NT volunteers and staff about other festivals, to supplement the extensive guidance they already receive about Christmas and Easter.

It was first produced, according the the Head of Communications at the NT, in 2017, and not one volunteer or staff member seems to have objected to it, until the very right-wing Reform Trust made an issue of it at this year’s AGM

GrannyRose15 Sat 25-Nov-23 18:45:09

Just a little bit of thought on the part of those who produced this calendar would have told them that they would offend people by leaving off Christmas and Easter. What is worrying is that they didn’t think. Or else they don’t care about offending their core membership and volunteers.

Joseann Sat 25-Nov-23 18:35:02

It's a shame though. We wanted to visit Sudeley Castle, Glos, (£20 a head) in August, but the dog wasn't even allowed in the grounds or gardens to allow us to swap over one at a time.
In France, earlier this summer we visit two châteaux (10€ each) and dogs were allowed, though in one of them you were supposed to carry the animal inside, [30kg of golden retriever!], not that anyone did.
Perhaps the NT could pay for dog 💩 shovellers, though we always pick up ours.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-Nov-23 18:12:55

Female dogs’ urine does awful things to nice lawns … perhaps that’s the reason?

Dinahmo Sat 25-Nov-23 18:06:26

Perhaps pee is a euphemism for what comes out elsewhere.

I remember taking my dogs to a woodland reserve and the walk from the car park to the entry was littered with stuff not picked up by owners. It was like walking through a mine field.

Joseann Sat 25-Nov-23 16:44:45

I am fed up with the NT in recent years
I'm pissed off with them too because they have stopped dogs in many of their grounds because they pee!

MaizieD Sat 25-Nov-23 16:41:21

Just keep things as they are FGS!!

The fact that the NT are now informing their volunteers now of dates of non christian festivals implies that it's not something they've done before.

So you'd be happy if the NT didn't bother, then?

AmberSpyglass Sat 25-Nov-23 16:39:46

NanKate Sat 25-Nov-23 16:39:44

I find it a sad old world now. The NT have gone down in my estimation. 👎

Even Ebernezer Scrooge celebrated Christmas, eventually.

Joseann Sat 25-Nov-23 16:38:59

I wonder if it mentions Hanukkah on December 7th? Include them all.
