No-one is ranting at you Bella23 but just suggesting this is not the appropriate thread to start the type of discussion you would like.
I didn't say I wanted a thread about the flaws of Derek Draper of which there were many I said like the person above me it was not 6 o'clock newsworthy.
Then you all got at me. Did you reprimand them as well? No, you didn't. I see someone else has partly agreed with me.
I have my opinions and will say them as I feel just like you all do.
Whose turn is it going to be today? It was GMS on Friday on another post and Sago got it yesterday when the post was years old.
You should all think about what you are doing if you suggest I have to. This if I wanted to could be taken as bullying and trying to coerce people into writing your ideas not their own.
I was very sad to hear about Derek's death. Kate Garroway has been a rock. RIP Derek 🌹
No one is ranting, we just feel this thread is not the place to discuss your dislikes. Start another thread.

Galaxy, I agree we don’t need to pretend those who die are flawless. In my family and friendship groups, loving people includes acknowledging flaws, we all have them.
I also acknowledge threads meander. I do feel this isn’t the place to discuss Drapers flaws or misdeeds. Yes start a thread where those things can be discussed but I don’t feel this is the place.
You can all have your thoughts and I will still keep mine do you think ranting at me will change what I think you haven't got a hope in hell.
This is a condolence thread, if you want to bad mouth someone start another thread.
What do people mean he was not worthy of 5 minutes BBC news, it was said he was the most ill person ever to have had covid, of course it is of interest.
Whatever happened to respect on Gransnet, People start bereavement threads, and if the deceased is not known to me or I did not like them I keep my thoughts to myself.
I cannot believe someone Is comparing this to a candle thread, how stupid.
I wish Kate, Darcie and Billy all the best, and thank Kate for keeping this in the public eye.
Bella to comment on this thread was wrong.
Don't you think I am aware of them too? I know people who are still suffering from long covid and feel for ALL families who have lost loved ones not just the ones who have the know-how to keep it in the public domain.
I think Derek Draper's story keeps us mindful of the dreadful consequences of Covid.
We heard about the deaths and followed the statistics, but there are thousands of people out there, some children, who are still suffering with Long Covid.
Physical disability, blood clots, sepsis, brain fog, there are many consequences of Covid but Derek Draper's situation will be documented as one of the worst and his case will, we hope, be discussed and reported on by medical professionals to help us all understand more about this disease.
Then you could have started your remarks with something like "I do empathise with the family left behind . ." instead of speaking - as I suspect is true - as though you didn't empathise with their pain and losss just because her job was in the public eye, and he (like all of us) was less than perfect . Are you perfect? If not, would you like us to parade your imperfections on social media as soon as your death is announced, for your family and friends to have extra pain?
Refarding all those who were very ill or died for the same reason that he did - the lack of knowledge about how to treat Covid at the start of the pandemic - the announcement of his death is a reminder to everyone of their suffering too, and he wasn't any luckier than they were, public eye or no.
There's a time and a place.....

Give us a break Bella this is not the time or place start your own anti thread but keep your disingenuous thoughts off this one
It's so sad seeing their life together in pictures from when they started their relationship, marriage and children. Whilst not every picture tells a story, they looked so happy with each other and their family, it really shone out of their eyes. Once again, so sad to read of his untimely death.
Oh, do give it a rest please, or start another thread.
How about all the unnamed doctors and nurses then who died during the pandemic? The clapping for carers.
Their colleagues who probably worked in the same wards as them all hours of day and night are the ones people are now condemning for being on strike.
I am not saying I do not empathise with the family left behind but I agreed with the post above mine that it was not BBC newsworthy with all that is happening in the world at the moment.
Why do people use her name as if she is a personal friend she is one of thousands if not millions worldwide who lost their loved ones to COVID!!!!
Bella23
now is not the time to speak ill of the dead!
it is about the ravages of covid before vaccines. Also about Kate who showed us what it was like....His two children Darcey and William

This is thread started with good intentions as a condolence thread.
If posters have something unpleasant to say, perhaps they'd like to start another thread?Maybe I have turned the thread into something else but which thread isn't these days?
Take Sagos asking what Candles we like a simple straightforward question that has been turned into a tirade about cheap candles and the fumes that are bad for the environment. How does that make people feel who can only afford cheap ones?
We all need to consider others in all threads.
Oh, for goodness's sake.
Can you not see the difference??
I think that there is quite a difference between which candles we like and the death of a person.
I feel sorry for Kate and the children.
I suppose I dont know what I feel about this discussion.
I kept away from the Benjamin Zephaniah thread when he died as my view of him is not favourable.
I just didnt think it was the time to say what I thought.
However I am not sure how I feel about pretending that people who die are flawless, it possibly would help us all of we admitted that all of us are a mixture of good and bad.
This man died as a result of covid. He was in the public eye so his death was reported on. His death serves as a reminder of the risks of long covid as well as the awful impact on so many families

Spoiled thread
Just like a lot of others when people voice their true feelings instead of following the herd. Who would have known about him if not for his wife?
Bella23 You are indeed being unkind!
if you can't see that now is not the time you are unkind!
