Good job Catherine has gone private then, otherwise the NHS queue would be even longer.

I wish her a speedy recovery and hope that the press don't start making up stories about what she has had done and don't badger and try and trick the hospital staff again into divulging details of her condition.

'planned' surgery does not mean the date is planned. it means your problem is looked into and the best way to set about correcting it is planned then you get a date to go in for the operation a week before after a pre med usually.

It can mean that, but not necessarily. Planned surgery is surgery which is scheduled into an operating list, emergency means the surgery is done as soon as the need is identified. Planned surgery could have been decided on only the day before it takes place on a scheduled list.

If she spent any time in ITU that may increase her time in hospital but I agree, I hope the staff are not tricked into revealing her diagnosis.

We are all entitled to privacy. I hope she recovers quickly and can return home as she has 3 little helpers there.

If it was a hysterectomy she is very lucky to get 10-14 days in hospital - on the NHS your bum barely touches the bed and you are out!

It is good that Charlie is being open about prostate problems - hopefully it will encourage other men to come forward, some of whom will have cancer.

Nobody but her family need to know why the Princess is having an operation and a stay in hospital. People tend to speculate which is wrong.
If she wants everyone to know then she may say in time but probably not.
This is a private matter.

Whatever is wrong with her I hope it’s nothing really serious. She does great work and seems lovely. Poor Prince William, he’s got so much to deal with. Let’s all hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

10-14 days in hospital seems a very long time. Even a hysterectomy is only a couple of days now.

Last year, friend of much the same age as PoW, had hysterectomy one day, and was home the next day.

Wishing her a full recovery and hope she will be back home with her family as soon as possible.

I wish the Princess well as quickly as possible.
It made me realise how fragile life can be, whoever we are.

A friend of mine has been in hospital for malignant tumour removal, full hysterectomy, appendix removal and all the other bits it might have spread to. So major surgery. She was only in for 6 nights. She is 50.

The vast majority of those who post on here are women, many of us have undergone surgery, some of that surgery will have been done by the NHS, some privately. How many of us would be happy for our illnesses to be speculated on by total strangers, and our medical care choice discussed.

As I have said in other threads, I am neither Royalist nor Republican, but I do think that the Princess of Wales has the same right of privacy that we all expect, being royal does not make her ‘fair game’ The duration of her stay in hospital is nothing to do with us.

Everyone is of equal importance healthwise.

Everyone is evidently not of “equal importance health wise”, since we know the RF will not have to wait for months for an op or be turfed out of hospital the day after it gets done. Their “job” , such as it is, requires them to be seen in public, be photographed, wave etc, and if they are unable to fulfil that role then it will quickly be noticed. This is why the public are kept informed. There is bound to be speculation if the public are only told snippets of information I don’t care what ailments the royals have, I’m not interested in them personally, they are mere mortals at the end of the day.

I’ve always thought she was too thin and 2 weeks in hospital is a long time, I hope it’s not something debilitating like Chrons.
