Just read that the Princess is in hospital following surgery. I hope she makes a good recovery.

Anniebach

Her husband chose her because she was suitable and not for love.

Racist

There’s absolutely no way that you could know if William loves Catherine / asked her to marry him because he loved her. Absolutely no way. I do get fed up of people on GN purporting to “know” facts about any Royals.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 18-Jan-24 17:57:50

I wonder how you know that she was ‘suitable’, Annie? Do you mean she was a virgin? How on earth would you know, and frankly whose business is it? I wonder if having parents involved in ‘trade’, one a former air hostess brought up in a council house would be deemed ‘suitable’?

Anniebach Thu 18-Jan-24 18:02:56

LucyAnn GSM. I said allegations made

Hope she has a speedy recovery ..

I read an article about the Princess of Wales on The Guardian this morning.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 18-Jan-24 18:19:03

But what are these allegations Annie? I have no idea what you are talking about.

How about he chose her because he loved her and she was suitable?

Win Win!

Who is racist?

You’re being mysterious Anniebach - surely better to say outright who or what you mean. I’m not a follower of RF antics at all, but I’ve never heard rumours of William marrying Catherine for any reason ther than he wanted to.

Joseann Thu 18-Jan-24 18:44:13

I think it's a case of the idiot brother shooting his mouth off with another round of thoughtless allegations. Something to do with royal men being urged to marry someone who would fit the mold—as opposed to somebody who they actually loved? ie William chose Catherine because she was suitable and not because the ✨️ 🌟 aligned. Load of tosh.
Though I may be totally wrong! Either way, it isn't relevant.

I note the private medical treatment of the Royals was referred to in a Question Time discussion tonight in Peterborough about waiting lists and the broken NHS.

Katie59 Fri 19-Jan-24 08:21:31

The first public connection was at St Andrew’s University, whether they had met before I’m not sure, by some mysterious fixing they ended up in the same student house, that could not have happened by coincidence. Williams house mates would have been carefully screened by security, probably MI5, Catherine’s mother probably had the right connections. The relationship grew from there obviously she was not fazed by the prospect of being in the public eye and has remained confident since.

A sharp contrast with Harry’s experience of relationships, even when he found a woman who wanted him it was a stormy ride.

give it a rest! all been said before! she's in hospital we don't need the history

Anniebach Fri 19-Jan-24 08:34:12

Good grief, a perfect example of what she has had to live with ,
snide comments about those she loves.

RosiesMaw Fri 19-Jan-24 08:35:49

Oh FGS Katie -give it a rest indeed!
It wasn’t a “student house” but “Sallies” (St Salvator’s with over 260 students) one of the larger Halls of Residence and while applicants would have been vetted for security reasons, to suggest the Middletons had the necessary clout to engineer a room for their daughter right above/below (?) that of William is taking your conspiracy theory too far.
Couples can meet at university - even at St Andrew’s-Paw and I did, in our first term in 1966

Anniebach Fri 19-Jan-24 08:39:20

So sorry I spoke of things which may cause her hurt.

WonderfulLife Fri 19-Jan-24 08:41:46

I know that people will tell me I am being terrible or cruel, but I am really sorry that the Princess is having a big operation.

But for thousands of UK citizens waiting for an operation on the NHS (like myself) and so far have waited two years and suffering in silence with side effects of the problem, I am a wee bit jealous. Having a medical problem and being taken into hospital without having to wait. Oh to be a millionaire so I could pay for the operation myself.

Maggiemaybe Fri 19-Jan-24 08:44:23

Relevant or not, there seems to be a lot of confusion over what Anniebach has said. Surely she’s simply answering the direct question put to her by GSM in the post above hers, and is stating which allegations she believes have been made about the Princess of Wales.

Yesterday 17:14 Germanshepherdsmum
Which allegations?

Yesterday 17:21 Anniebach

As for the Princess of Wales’s situation, I expect she’ll be in hospital for as long as she needs to be, and I doubt that she’ll enjoy the “privilege” of being away from her young family for so long. How sad that she can’t even have an operation in peace.

Joseann Fri 19-Jan-24 08:49:12

What a lovely photo RosiesMaw. I know nothing about St. Andrews, but I'm guessing, like Cambridge say, the students would be somewhat insular and therefore almost inevitably find a partner within their group? I was a London where most of us hit the high life outside uni, and most of us had non uni partners! Just wondering.

I think you might give yourself leave to be rather more than a wee bit jealous (though I suspect you were being ironic). It's disgraceful that the Royals have such health privileges when people are waiting years for necessary treatment.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 19-Jan-24 09:19:42

So you would expect them to join the NHS waiting lists? What about others who can afford private treatment or have medical insurance, maybe as part of their employment package?

Grantanow are my AC, GC myself and DH disgraceful due to our private health insurance?

Anniebach Fri 19-Jan-24 09:46:31

Some here would refuse private healthcare ?

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 19-Jan-24 09:51:20

I very much doubt it Annie. They just complain about others having it.

annodomini Fri 19-Jan-24 09:52:06

You're so right, Joseann. In my day at St Andrews - somewhat earlier than Rosiesmaw - it was quite a marriage market. Indeed, I may have been an exception in not finding a partner there! I attended several weddings of St Andrean pairings and know of many more.

Ilovecheese Fri 19-Jan-24 09:58:25

My husband refused private healthcare from his employer, on principle. Some people actually do live by their principles.
