Emergency Aid To Gaza Halted Because Israel Says So?

Israel claims that UN aid workers were involved in the October 7 attack and - without any independent proof - UN suspends aid with immediate effect.
Why? Does Netanyahu - an unbalanced individual at best - have so much influence on the United Nations, an organisation which has proved itself fairly useless down the decades?

You really don’t get it !

No, I don't. When the State of Israel was established in 1948, there were defined borders which didn't include Gaza or the West Bank.

Israel has the right to defend its territory but not to destroy somebody else’s territory

How was Israel expected to defend itself without entering Gaza?

I don’t think Hamas had the right to enter Israel and commit one of the most depraved attacks in recent history, which didn’t only include the violent murder of well over one thousand people, but included burning and completely destroying the property in those areas.

How do you think WW2 was won without destroying somebody else’s property? Since you’ve studied WW2, you should know the answer to that.

whitewave your humanity when you deny Jews their homeland

The establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 realized the long-held dream of a Jewish homeland, and it has since become the center of Jewish identity and culture for millions of Jews worldwide. Israel is seen as a place of refuge, a cultural renaissance, and a symbol of Jewish self-determination.

I really don't get this. Jews aren't being denied their homeland. Gaza and the West Bank have never been part of Israel.

Of course Israel has the right to defend its territory but not to destroy somebody else's territory.

Growstuff okay let’s say then that the oil rich countries should make up the difference? If you object to Saudi making up the shortfall, how do you feel about impoverished countries like the Uk and Italy chipping in?

It's not me who's objecting, but I think the Saudis might. It's very probable Iran is behind this and I can't see Saudi compensating for something its arch enemy has caused.

The tunnels, all three hundred miles of them, were built by Hamas. The claims that they were built by the Israelis are false. The Israelis are regularly accused of building the tunnels, all three hundred miles them. In the eighties the Israelis built a hospital in Gaza, and it may have contained underground cellars, but they didn’t build three hundred miles of tunnels, running under homes, schools, mosques and nurseries, all connecting, and running under the border into Israel. The Israelis didn’t build prisons in these tunnels, nor living areas, nor reinforce them with concrete. Hamas did that. Have you ever thought why? And how it was funded? It really doesn’t take an Oxbridge degree to work it out if you’re not already biased against the Israelis.

I don't imagine that they cost anything like what our government would spend on something comparable. & as for all lthe moey for infrastructure, that's down the drain now isn't it? Israel have flattened that housing, those hospitals, universities & schools.

So where did the money come from to build those amazing tunnels, and let’s not forget arms.

Ever watched the great escape? They didn't have money & civil engineering contractors building the tunnels, they did it themselves to get out of prison.

That’s like comparing oranges with apples.
As I recall in The Great Escape they crawled along the tunnel.
Nobody crawling in this photo.

Katie59 Tue 30-Jan-24 18:54:59

There was a lot of international aid for infrastructure improvement in Gaza, hospitals, housing and roads, a lot of that was diverted to build tunnels, these are not wood and dirt mole tracks they are large concrete lined structures
We know that a lot of water piping was used to build rockets to fire at Israel, fuel and fertiliser was used to fuel them.

Israel became the Jewish Homeland in 1948

And what happened to the people that were living there at the time? And had been living there for a long time.

Katie59 Tue 30-Jan-24 16:47:34

Iran supports Hamas, Houthi’s and others for idealogical reasons as far as i know does not supply aid to Gaza only weapons to fight for the Islamic cause, principally the destruction of Israel

The oil rich Arab states have the option of increasing their contribution to make up the shortfall?

f ran is behind this, why on earth should Saudi make up the shortfall?

PS. Iranians aren't Arabs.

Sticky keyboard!

That should read "If Iran is behind this ..."

You keep saying that!😀

I am familiar with Israeli/Palestine history having done a course by the Holocaust museum and an associate university. I have also read extensively.

I am sure most of us posting on here are fully aware of the history of that area.

You appear to be ignoring what i have previously posted.

I said that if there is a two state solution - and I very much hope there is, then Israel will need support from the ROW because it is surrounded by hostile nations.

I do not and never have denied Israel a homeland.

I do not believe a surgeon would attempt to operate on a malnourished child with such severe injuries and without anaesthetic

Really Oreo, isn't that corcion and survival for some Palestinians. A bit like an abusive marriage!

Can’t understand your message.

Oreo Tue 30-Jan-24 15:30:37

You seem to contradict yourself a lot Whitewavemark2
If your humanity is with all the innocents you just wouldn’t have said the ‘ don’t dare to quote’ thing.
It isn’t just you btw that feels sorrow for all innocents caught up in war like the Palestinians in Gaza or all the innocents murdered in their beds when there wasn’t a war at the time by Gazans in Israel on Oct 7th.
