What the hell is happening to this country?
Send these scum to Rwanda ASAP.

Totally sick of these violent criminals being allowed to stay here.

I often wonder how lawyers sleep at night when they represent people whom they know to be villains (whom? who?) confused!!

The type of lawyer who makes up stories for asylum seekers to use is the scum of the earth and should be struck off, as some have been already. They are people with no integrity and no scruples, sending the bills for their crooked work to be paid out of the miserable legal aid budget. They sleep very easily Nagmad because they are crooks without consciences. I have come across crooked lawyers and almost without exception their English was far too poor for them to have passed the professional exams - undoubtedly, they paid someone of similar ethnicity (so as not to arouse suspicion) to sit them. When I turned up for my exams I could have been anybody.

The problem is Cossy when we talk about mental illness this could be any one of a thousand different things. Who knows when they will snap and whether they will hurt themselves or others when they do? It's all an unknown. No-one is labelling anyone, we are just unsure about who might be dangerous and who is not.

^ This man carrying out this awful acid attack should not have been granted leave to remain and should be deported when caught^

But he was allowed to remain!
Why is this I wonder?
And he won’t be deported when caught.

We are such a soft touch in Britain. France for example refuses asylum status way more than we do. “Come one come all” here. Then we lose them in the system. They run away and we can’t find thousands of them. They don’t need ID cards to get work - cash in hand working for their ‘brothers’. Car wash, curry houses.

I like nice people. Of any ethnicity or colour. Religion or none.

But we are being taken for fools. “Sheep are meant to be sheared” comes to mind.

Vote Reform.

Oh dear- naughty Telegraph. If you read the article carefully you might see that the cat comment was merely a ( jokey) aside from the court.
He was granted leave as he had a wife, children, stepchildren and an offer of a job. The humorous remark from the bench referred to the cat's relief at not having to learn to catch Bolivian mice. It's probably best if jokes are kept away from such occasions, as they can be ( certain to be?) open to abuse/ misinterpretation.
It's best to look at newspaper reporting with a critical eye. Unlike you or me called to give witness, they are not bound to tell the whole truth..

Elegran Fri 02-Feb-24 15:24:21

I remember a priest being killed by someone he had supported and allowed into his home. That man was home-grown British and mentally ill.

Cossy Fri 02-Feb-24 15:20:18

Those who have backgrounds in mental illness or family with serious mental illnesses will be well aware, in the main, people are more likely to harm themselves than others. Of course, there are exceptions. People who commit heinous violent crimes, are generally aware of what they are doing and are evil people with no consciences.

Again, there are always exceptions.

Stop labelling people with no evidence!

Do these migrants who are on the verge of being granted asylum, have an in-depth psychological assessment?

His behaviour maybe represents what is considered acceptable behaviour towards women by his country of origin and his real religion. I think this is a real problem with permitting so many single men from countries which disrespect women, and with religions which still condone stoning a woman to death for adultery, to live here. Their values and beliefs are poles apart from ours.

I said this many years ago, bringing in so many people with completely different values from ours will cause problems in the future, and here we have it. It would not be a problem if we kept strict control over bad or illegal behaviour but as we all know this doesn't happen. Prison sentences are insufficient and we can't even seem to deport them.

By the way GSM, it was with reference to Wethersfield that I heard that over a thousand with mental health problems have been 'lost' by the authorities.

Cossy Fri 02-Feb-24 15:14:38

Please don’t try and pretend we didn’t have gangs or violent crime before mass migration!

Peaky Blinders? The Krays? The Richardson's? To name just a few, we also had vile, incomprehensible crimes such as those committed by the likes of Fred and Rose West, Myra Hindley and Brady, Beverley Allit, Lucy Letby, Harold Shipman and hundreds more, all British born evil people.

I just don’t this man was mentally unwell, he clearly is related to this poor Mum and children and I agree with GSM that sadly culture plays a large role in this attack.

What I very strongly don’t agree with us tarring all migrants and asylum seekers as potential murderers/sex attackers/criminals because a very small percentage of them have committed crimes having arrived here.

Btw I live in the late David Amess MP’s constituency and his killer was was Ali Harbi Ali, a British Islamic State sympathiser - foreign name, British born, grew up in Croydon.

Jo Cox, MP was murdered by 53 year-old Thomas Alexander Mair. He was found guilty of her murder and other offences connected to the killing in an act of terrorism. The judge concluded that Mair wanted to advance white supremacy and exclusive nationalism most associated with Nazism and its modern forms.

Please don’t continue to blame migrants and asylum seekers for crimes they did not commit.

This man carrying out this awful acid attack should not have been granted leave to remain and should be deported when caught.

This doesn’t mean we should never ever let any more migrants/asylum seekers live here.

I think you’re right.
Why assume he’s mentally ill, a lot of men from certain countries and cultures think they have a perfect right to either kill or maim if they feel ‘wronged’ by them.As it may turn out to be the case here.

Urmstongran Fri 02-Feb-24 15:04:49

CoE says vetting asylum seekers is not its job. Maybe it should consider staying out of things altogether, in that case, rather than its priests being gullible fools who think that asylum seekers have genuinely found Jesus.

It won’t be long now before those with money live in gated communities.

The rest of us will have to fend for ourselves as best as.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 02-Feb-24 15:03:09

Yes. It seems the interests of the asylum seeker are paramount. Even if, as in this case, they are a convicted criminal.

The protection of people living here appears to be a secondary consideration when granting asylum is discussed.
And patronising comments, such as:
Usual vile comments being trotted out, I see...,
indicating an apparently superior understanding, do not help.
People are appalled.

That’s just what I thought too.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 02-Feb-24 15:01:05

Only 32% of perpetrators, where ethnicity was known, were white European.

Hear hear, maddyone
He was convicted of crimes after being given sanctuary here and why on earth should claiming to have become a Christian be a reason for him to be allowed to remain here?
Being Muslim is not a reason for anyone to be deported.

Whoever made that decision needs to be dismissed as the grounds for granting the appeal goes against everything our multicultural society should stand for!

He should be deported after completing his sentence, no matter what his fate in his homeland.
He gives a bad name to others seeking sanctuary here and people are naturally afraid and apprehensive.

I agree 100%

Casdon Fri 02-Feb-24 14:56:54

This gives a breakdown by sex and ethnicity. All is not as it is portrayed by the media. Plus ça change.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 02-Feb-24 14:52:23

I agree. This kind of behaviour comes predominantly from certain cultures.

Urmstongran Fri 02-Feb-24 14:44:45

We seem to have imported these methods of attack by some individuals. Acid being thrown in people’s faces? None of that happening when I was a kid. And stabbing people (shanking) with zombie knives? Different cultures, different harms. Honour killings? Female genital mutilation? We need to get a grip. We won’t recognise Britain in a few years.

Casdon Fri 02-Feb-24 14:26:28

‘The UK now has the highest number of recorded attacks in the world, with a 69% rise in the number of attacks in 2022. Acid attacks peaked in 2017, with 941 recorded cases. The figures then steadily dropped to reach 421 in 2021.’

Just a reminder that this is a horrific, but not an uncommon crime in the UK.

Honestly, no wonder this country is in the state it’s in. Too many ( mostly left wingers / liberals ) making excuses for these scum.

I have seen no-one making excuses for this man's actions.

They are just pointing out that he has not done this dreadful thing because he is an immigrant, but because he is a human being, who is likely mentally ill.

Well he wasn't that mentally ill he managed to fool a priest that he had converted to Christianity, some people/posters are very naive it seems to me, I'm waiting for the poster who usual pops up and says I'd rather have asylum seekers than home grown British men

So many lessons learned....
So many of the same situations arising.
