Apparently their names have been all over X (Twitter), etc, since Brianna was murdered, so publishing their names officially will make no real difference, whether we think it right or wrong. For what it’s worth I think that having information about these two out in the open might help people realise that evil people aren’t always from what petra calls families like these.

You know a great deal Annie, and are publishing here far more than I knew (not that I’m interested). So where does that place you in your argument against the families being identified? What you say doesn’t help me to understand why at all. But it does seem rather pot and kettle for you to disclose this.

She had drugged a pupil at her previous school, then was moved to Brianna's school without the new school being made aware of her history. She first tried to poison Brianna, leaving her in agony.

She's been sentenced to a minimum of 22 years, but could someone like that ever be rehabilitated?

That is very much an argument for withholding the names, I think. The alternative is for the (innocent) siblings to have their chances of a normal life ruined.

Why do reports about incidents mention the cost of people's houses. That has no relevance to the situation as far as I can see.
Unfortunately in these days of rampant social media information there is little or no chance of keeping names secret. My heart goes out to Brianna's family.

I feel so sorry for this poor blameless youngster and her family and friends.

I have no issue with these two individuals being identified, they’re an utterly evil pair. I do feel empathy for their families, but the individuals clearly didn’t give a damn about them or their poor victim.

What on earth makes two young people behave in this way.

I listened to the sentencing and thought the punishment fitted the crime. I take GSM’s reasoning about naming the parents but I do feel the pain of being outed nationally. On top of the grief the perpetrators will suffer, they will be blaming themselves that their children could commit such an awful crime. Both the DT and the Times say they were normal, hardworking people with other children, I cannot imagine how they feel about their role in bringing the children up. Now they will be plagued by Press,TV and Radio. I feel pity for them.

Maybe we will never know the reason why this occurred. Autism. Neurodivergence as it’s now called? Being ‘other’ and teenage hormones? Just plain curiosity on the dark web that fuelled evil intent?

Do you have any experience or knowledge of autism? What a dreadful awful thing to say! Almost as bad as Petra’s unfair and unfounded comment about the families of these “children”

This may have been one of these "folies à deux" crimes where it might never have happened had the two murderers never met.

I would be inclined to agree with this statement, had the young lady concerned not already behaved in a very worrying manner at her previous school

Knitandnatter are you suggesting the siblings of these two youngsters should be made to suffer because their brother/sister committed aa murder, or are you suggesting that because one child in a family commits murder the chances are their siblings will commit murder as well.

The siblings of these two killers should have every opportunity to lead a normal life, to have boyfriends/gilrfriends, mix in a crowd without anyone knowing what their sibling did. If and when they form a serious and long lasting relationship, it will obviously be necessary that their partner should know, but until then they should be able to live anonymously.

I cannot agree with that. They are victims but their child has not been murdered by two other sadistic children.

On what we know, the female murderer had behaved in a dangerous, worrying and unusual way prior to planning to murder Brianna. The Judge found no reason to conclude her co-conspirator was under undue influence by this young woman. I’m not persuaded it was follies a deux.

It’s become imo too easy to suggest neurological diversity underpins behaviour we find impossible to explain or understand. We forget the influence of personality at our peril. My 27 year old autistic grandson would no more hurt any human /animal than fly to the moon.

I can remember discussions about this at work more than 50 years ago.

Of course, what might seem to be a normal family from the perspective of outside observers could be anything but.
