It’s just been on the news that Charles has cancer and is not taking any duties for now

Ziplok Mon 05-Feb-24 18:38:01

I’m so sorry to hear this and sincerely hope that the treatment he has will be successful in eradicating the cancer.

lemsip Mon 05-Feb-24 18:36:35

stated it is not prostate cancer though,

Anniebach Mon 05-Feb-24 18:33:40

That announcement came from sources close to Harry not
Buckingham Palace

Kate1949 Mon 05-Feb-24 18:32:08

They have just said on the news that Harry will travel back to see his father 'in the coming days'.

Ailidh Mon 05-Feb-24 18:28:06

I am very sad to hear it. For the reasons Whethertomorrow gives and also because I'm sorry for anyone receiving such a diagnosis.

Grandma70s Mon 05-Feb-24 18:25:44

I admire his openness, and I hope he will be all right. I wonder if he tried to persuade Catherine to be more open? Not that I think she should be if she doesn’t want to be.

nanaK54 Mon 05-Feb-24 18:25:28

I do hope our King has a full and speedy recovery

Curlywhirly Mon 05-Feb-24 18:25:28

I wonder if Harry will now feel it's time to heal the rifts he has with his family? It must be upsetting for him to get this news, especially as he is (allegedly) estranged.

Kate1949 Mon 05-Feb-24 18:24:49

I'm not a royalist but I wish him well as I would anyone who gets this horrible diagnosis. My own husband has been through it, as have many on GN and their loved ones.

Harris27 Mon 05-Feb-24 18:23:21

Wish him and well.

Whethertomorrow Mon 05-Feb-24 18:21:22

I feel so sorry for him. For all his wealth and position he has not really had a charmed life.

He had to wait nearly his entire life to become King, his first marriage was a disaster, his second son has turned out badly and his childhood and education were horrible. That image of him waiting in line to shake his mother’s hand after she had been away for months is still haunting.

I wish him well.

rafichagran Mon 05-Feb-24 18:20:13

Sorry I said coolgran, should have beeb coolcoco.

tickingbird Mon 05-Feb-24 18:19:40

I wish him well and hope everything goes according to plan.

Hopefully Harry will stop causing anymore stress to his father.

CoolCoco Mon 05-Feb-24 18:18:41

Well I’ve turned the news off as it’s just repeating the same old stuff. I do wish him well, I know from my own family how much a cancer diagnosis affects everyone, I don’t want this constant over discussion about every minute aspect of one persons life.

Knitandnatter Mon 05-Feb-24 18:18:04

CoolCoco

Ok to be open but can’t stand all the speculation, blathering on about who is taking over his duties etc This shouldn’t dominate the news. This is just toadying.

Doesn't your TV/radio have an 'off' switch then?

Jaxjacky Mon 05-Feb-24 18:17:04

Change channels CoolCoco maybe watch a film.

rafichagran Mon 05-Feb-24 18:16:46

I wish him well. I also do not agree with coolgran Could you explain why it is toadying? If more men are checked, his announcement can only be a good thing.

varian Mon 05-Feb-24 18:16:35

I think they said it was not prostate cancer but another cancer discovered when he was having prostate treatment.

I think this reinforces the message to men to get themselves checked out.

Charles will have the very best medical care and let's hope that he does well and makes a full recovery, as most cancer patients do now.

BlueBelle Mon 05-Feb-24 18:16:26

As you’re not interested Coolcoco why so many posts about something you’re not interested in 😂

Grantanow Mon 05-Feb-24 18:15:41

I hope his cancer treatment will be successful. I think being open about his hospital stay is a good thing as it encourages the public to think about prostate enlargement.

nadateturbe Mon 05-Feb-24 18:15:32

I'm not a royalist but he is a human being, and his family are going through a rough time at the minute. I just feel sympathy for them.
I think it's right that we should know.
I wish him all the best with his treatment, just as I do anyone with cancer.

henetha Mon 05-Feb-24 18:13:39

No one would 'toady' to the King. He wouldn't wish it.
Unkind right now, CoolCoco.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 05-Feb-24 18:13:33

I hope any treatment he is receiving will be successful.

This explains why William is returning to Royal duties earlier than expected.

CoolCoco Mon 05-Feb-24 18:12:43

They haven’t said it was prostate cancer though have they? They’ve said they found a separate condition whilst doing the treatment for a benign condition, it’s all speculation and gossip. Yes, talking about cancer and encouraging checking is good, but the BBC news have only had this issue on for 10 minutes, you’d think there was nothing else happening in the world.

merlotgran Mon 05-Feb-24 18:12:39

CoolCoco

It’s not toadying. People will be genuinely shocked and concerned. I know I am.

There will be far less speculation I the palace are open about this.
