Should Starmer sue Sunak?

I noticed Sunak has repeated his nonsense in PMQs about Starmer and those he defended as a Barrister.

Sunak recently voiced the same nonsense in an interview with Piers Morgan. By doing so, he opened himself up to being sued. Thus also opened up the broadcaster.the

My question is, why does he keep repeating it? Does he see his supporters as so thick and stupid that they don't understand the cab rank rule for Barristers? Is he really that out of touch?

I feel he must be as he couldn't see how crass a £1,000 bet on the lives of asylum seekers would look, nor could he see how hurtful his transgender jibe would be to Brianna Ghey's mother, who was sitting in the gallery at PMQs.

But not as ashamed as Sunak should be, according to Brianna’s father. His opinion is more important than ours on this.

Indeed she is. Starmer should be ashamed.

Surely he didn’t choose to cause the family distress deliberately
i am no supporter of this man but am concerned the poor girl is being used for political point scoring

Yes i understand that but anyone can get carried away surely

He wasn’t carried away. It was a scripted comment.

nothing surprises me about this dire gov't, people who think its ok to treat the public like idiots can't be relied on to say or do the right thing, the quicker they're out of govt the better, though they won't go til the last minute cos they won't want to give up power

MissAdventure Wed 07-Feb-24 21:42:54

Well, I kind of expect better from the prime minister.
I would get carried away, but then I'm not in his position.

Perhaps, if it is a very recently bereaved family they may upset.
Particularly if their child has been murdered

Anniebach Wed 07-Feb-24 21:37:49

Must every MP check if anything in her/his speech causes upset?

Mollygo Wed 07-Feb-24 21:32:18

Sunak was using it (evidently) as part of a list of Starmer’s flip flops. I dislike the way they’re referred to as a joke. Wasn’t it what KS said about women?
Maybe today wasn’t a good day to choose that particular one.

I do think KS, as head of the labour party should clarify what a woman is so that RS can’t use it. Does he really not know, or is it a case of “You can’t make me say it.”

GSM And yes, a lot of people know nothing about the cab rank principle. Does that make them ‘thick and stupid’?

Yes, if they haven't taken on board that explanation, which you have given at least once before.

Perhaps they haven't read it. Typically rude.

Anniebach Wed 07-Feb-24 20:16:38

I really don’t know what was wrong with speaking of trans

MissAdventure Wed 07-Feb-24 20:13:55

Brianna's father has "demanded an apology", apparently, and Downing St have declined to give one

Whitewavemark2 Wed 07-Feb-24 19:55:25

Oh! I always call her that - poor urms I didn’t know she disliked it😬. I took the two initial letters - I’ll drop that then.

I use them because I’m too lazy to type it out in full - some of us have long convoluted usernames and it isn’t really sensible to expect everyone to use the full version. So ug commonly known as urms is another example. Bet she doesn’t mind🙂

Not sure she likes ug but is happy with urms

She has taken issue with me over the abbreviation. I treat everyone in the same way, abbreviate long names and expect people to abbreviate mine. I really don’t understand the problem.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 07-Feb-24 19:39:02

No problem Whitewavemark2 if I have time (as now) I use posters full title if in a hurry I abbreviate.

GG13 is ok by me 👍🏻

MaizieD regularly uses the abbreviation DAR , even on this thread.

I can only assume we are not in the club

No DAR objects to everyone using the shortened form.

Me? I have other things to worry about - like world peace, cancer care etc etc

So DAR and gg13 plus others will be my choice of address - no insult, or disrespect intended at all. People address me by WWM2 and it has never occurred to take it as an insult😀😀

No he shouldn’t sue.

All MPs on all sides of the house should stop behaving like children, hurling insults at each other and get on with what they’re paid for, looking after the country!

Yes, I think Sunak is completely out of touch, as are his entire cabinet.

Slops ?

You are being punished, as I was, for abbreviating the poster’s name. Very unpleasant. I have reported it.

Elegran Wed 07-Feb-24 19:20:27

I have just seen a quote on a US Facebook page (Bored Panda if you want an exact GPS for it)

"Half of lawyering is controlling your temper among dipshits, and they should teach you that in law school"

Perhaps politicians aspiring to be Prime Ministers (and those in offic)e should learn the art too. So far, lawyer Keir Starmer seems pretty adept at it.

I wrote the OP GrannyGravy and it appears you are not able to quote "word for word". This is what I actually wrote.

My question is, why does he keep repeating it? Does he see his supporters as so thick and stupid that they don't understand the cab rank rule for Barristers? Is he really that out of touch?

I was clearly questioning Sunak's view of his supporters.

There are, however, a few horses out of the same stable on here today, who don't seem to feel the truth matters and will twist it anyway they can to follow their leader in personal attacks - just as badly made as his it seems.

Splitting hairs DAR

The truth is you did post the words I reposted, the rest of the sentence was not relevant to my post regarding my prediction that thick and stupid will be seen on here time and time again in the run up to the GE.

Simply being accurate Slops. It isn't your place to decide which of my words in any sentence are "relevant" any more than it is minecto decide on yours.

If you have a problem with my posts, please report them DAR
